Pilot AI/OCS Apollo/FCS MK III

Post by Buck_Rogers »

Hi all

1st off. sorry for posting another topic about these 3 scripts, but I did not want to create duplicate posts in multiple threads. If this is wrong , then I'm sorry

Anywayz. My query

I have read all 3 relevant threads and it looks like the 3 of these should work together. Putting them together though looks complicated to me! I am looking for someone to confirm they work in tandem and help me with the installiation process via the PM. (correct order etc etc) This is mainly due to the fact I do not want to screw up another install.

I have already managed to make FCS MK III into an .spk aswell as the hotfix that goes with it, and this works fine. I know there are other files that will need to be installed if I add the other 2 scripts, but am looking for someone who has these 3 great scripts installed in working order, to help me.

Please :D

Thanks in advance
Buck Rogers

Salut Buck Rogers, :)

I'm running all 3 scripts (and a lot more) without any problems together. At least I haven't relized some.

I'm not sure anymore in wich order I installed them that time, but taking a look to the readme, I would try it like this:
First, make a backup of your Savegames, also make a backup of your scripts and t-folder - to be sure, nothing will go wrong ;)

I would start installing the pilot AI at first - take a look at the readme ;)
then the OCS - Apollo, there is also a readme and then, go on with the FCS- MK3. There is also a readme wich explains what to do, and then, after that, I remember there are some hotfixes for the FCS-MK3, too, they need to be installed at the end and that should it be ;)

A sidenote, I'm not sure anymore, but I thought the OCS- Apollo is integrated to the FCS- MK3, at least it was planned long time ago. But to be sure, if u want it, just install the OCS- Apollo before the FCS- MK3 - it shouldn't cause problems, if it askes u to overwrite some files, just say yes - and u still have your backup ;) :)

I hope, I could help a bit, à la prochaine,

Louis

hmmmmm. I may have a problem then. If FCS MK III should be last. As I have already got it installed.

Will this cause a problem?

OK I have then installed, but am unsure what hotfixes to install

OCS Aollo readme states that a file from the scripts folder must be removed and replaced with another file from the zip if using FCS MK III and FCS MK III has a file that must be in the scripts folder. The problem is file that the readme of OCS Apollo states to remove is the same file that the readme of FCS MK III states to add to the scripts folder.

!fight.attack.object.pck

If the above file is present in the scripts folder then OCS Apollot wont work. :( The FCS MK III readme states to place the version of this file that comes with the zip in the scripts folder if using OCS Apollo.

So what do I do? follow what the OCS readme says and leave out the file !fight.attack.object.pck. Or place the FCS MK III version of this file in the scipts folder?

help!

much confusement!

Salut Buck_Rogers again, :)

well, the Readme of the OCS- Apollo tells u to remove the one file and replace it with the zip-file - cause there are changes done. Also the FCS-MK3 does the same, and as mentioned in the readme, of the FCS-MK3 install first the Apollo and put in the FCS-MK3 scripts after that.
I would install the FCS-MK3 last, cause it is newer than the Apollo, so u can be sure, the demanded file to exchange is up-to-date.

As I said, I would do it like that.

Bye,

Louis

OK. I installed PilotAI 1st, then OCS Apollo. I then removed the required file from the scripts folder and replaced it with the OCS one. Finally I added the file from the FCS MK III zip. So all in all, I have added both files from both archives, to the scripts folder.

The game appears to be working so far. I have activated a few AI's on some of my ships and all seems well. Although I have yet to check if OCS Apollo and FCS MK III are working.

I hope so!
