Patch 2.5 Bugged?

Hey all figured I'd be the humbug and warn everyone about a potential issue with 2.5. I grabbed the 2.02 -> 2.5 and when I went to load up any of my fresh save games that were only two game hours old, all of them reported as corrupt. When I went to start a new game, I got a really interesting light show.

I ran a fresh install, 1.0 -> 2.02 + latest Bonus Pack. I have -no- scripts or mods installed, and yes, all drivers and such are up to date. This almost brought a touch of Nov 05 nostalgia

I'm not terribly upset, as I started a fresh install knowing full well there might be problems. Good luck to all, and keep up the great work Egosoft!

same thing has happened to me, all my save files are now corrupt after downloading the patch :/

gonna do a re-install and patch to 2.02 untill there is a fix

Reinstalled X3 1.0 -> 2.02, previous saves intact. So theres a light at the end of the tunnel.

Patch 2.5 is not working for me either.

I ran the update from 2.0.02 -> 2.5 and I ended up with a flickering screen when trying to load a saved game or start a new game.

I uninstalled X3, deleted my saves.

Installed X3 again, ran the patch from 1.0 to 2.5. Installed the bonus plugin (latest version) and then I loaded up X3. Started a new game and again while It was displaying the loading screen, it started to flicker (right away) and did not stop until I used the task manager to shut down X3.

yup thats right, nothing else, just reinstall the previous patch and everything is fine. It rewrites the files causing the issues to the pre (2.5) patch.

Phew, i just got a new graphic card this morning, and the screen starts flickering white when i try playing, im so happy it wasn't the card .

Same with me. Corrupt save games. Go back to the previous patch and all is well.

fast flicking here and frozen X3 - 7800GTX (worked in v2.02 fine),

with a mod or vanilla game, on all start positions. Corrupt save when loading in existing games

in-game, just flicks and the whole game is locked up. Cant move the speed or use control+q to even quit. The only way out is alt+ctrl+del then close program Its not EAX, has it turned this off with the same effect.

at my best guess for me, its not loading in 'x3_universe' and patching it. As the game loads in too fast. If X3 has a 'blank' universe X3 isn't loading in the models then probably putting its self in a endless loop, somehow flashing the screen.

As it's said in the above posts, i've got "Error loading savegame, may be corrupt" while trying to load my past games (no scripts or mods, only the latest bonus pack installed). Starting a new game does not work either. The only part of the program, that seems to function normally, is the combat simulator. It works without any visible glitches.

The problem is a corrupted L/x3story.obj file. There will be an update shortly.

ah, i thought it would be the obj. Any specifics? bet it wasn't loading in the universe map and applying the map patches. Shame you couldn't add support for mod makers to add new map patches to existing games (whist you playing with the obj). Im sure many of us mod makers would love that feature from you guys!

Update. Most of the download locations and file types have been taken offline for now and will be enabled again later, since the installers need to be fixed. The current working patch is the updated 2.0.02->2.5 version at the following location:

This is one of the reasons you have the support of users like me. I do not contribute or stick with many titles because they lack depth, gameplay that lasts more than a few hours and so on... but most important they lack the help and support of the devs. In this case, X3 blows every other company and title out the door..

It is exactly this type of support that keeps us supporting you!
