The Passage of Time

Post by McItoshi »

I have a couple of Q’s about the passage of time in X3, I’m still fairly new to it and until now its not some thing that’s bothered me much, but now as I’m interested in building a bit more id like to know:

Dose an hour in the real world equate to an hour in-game or is there a different scale ?
(To help calculate profits per hour and such)

&

mizura, tazura etc month and year I think I don’t really know so which one is which and what are the rest ?
(Just curious how it works out and to make some sense of the fluff on the BBS)

EDIT wrong forum sorry, spot he diddy . . The joys of opening more windows than you can manage :oops:

if u dont use SETA then time will pass just like in the real world, if u use SETA x10 then the ingame time will pass 10 times faster than the real world time
The answer is just another question.

no one really knows... I've seen them used several different ways IN game lol (probably because they had different developers working on different parts of the program)

X2 manual had a full time table, so it is possible to know. It is even easier in X3 with rounds figures only.

sezura = second
mizura = minute
stazura = hour
tazura (not the same !) = day
wozura = week
mazura = month
jazura = year

decazura (i have seen it)

i can not find the word for "century", but all the time scale seems coming from german words (wohne, tag, jahr...) with "zura" at the end.

I'd always wondered why the units of time have such strange names while most of the ships are named after earth animals.

What are the chances that the Split actually have a creature called an elephant on their homeworld?

And if it's your universal translater or whatever that's coming up with the names, why can't it translate units of time?

actually all the ship names are from the prespective of the Argon, so its what they choose to call the split ships, rather than what the split call them

Who know, but maybe Split elephant is a meat-eater, they eat split like a good old dinner on thier homeworld! Maybe same name, but not same animal as earth do.

The Zuran time system was invented by the Teladi and is used by all races. The Argon adopted it, too--let's face it, there would be little point in sticking to a time system based on the orbital period and rotation of a planet they're never likely to see again, is there? Especially since the Argon government tried to expunge all knowledge of Earth from the history books.

Having said that, the game doesn't actually use Zuran time. Sezura, mizura etc. are not supposed to be equal to Earthly time units--there was actually a conversion table given in the X2 manual. However, to make things easier for the player, the game uses the units as direct analogues of hours, minutes and seconds, and has done since the release of X2.
