Most likely it will be compatible with current save games just like previous updates. I don't recall any update requiring a restart during the time I played TC. AP is just an expansion pack based upon same version but with extra stuff.

And to be clear AP is not save game compatible with TC.
I've been playing since X2 came out and patches have always been save game compatible within the same game and I'd put money on it being the case this time.

Has it been confirmed by Egosoft they are actually going to do anything yet? You may be jumping the gun by asking about compatibility on potential vaporware.

If somebody has a link to the confirmation that would be great!

They haven't closed this thread yet, so I presume they are still taking our input for idea's/suggestions/brainfarts. Thats a good indication.

But no, there never was any confirmation of a new patch coming.

I think it is clear there will be one, this year
They put an announcement on the Steam forums and have not removed it or retracted it
so I think we can take it there is an update on the way

Interesting! I didn't look there, I always come here first. Well that is great news even if it is only bug fixes.

So let me get this straight, a post in a forum rarely visited by actual Egosoft staff that is merely a hint to this topic here is considered to be a more reliable source of information than the actual announcement in the official Egosoft forum created by the MD of Egosoft himself?

A post in a dedicated forum for the X3 games on Steam

is certainly a good indication that they mean to deliver a patch

I'm sorry to disappoint you but it is no such thing. There has been no statement beyond Bernd's original post in this thread, that we are considering a possible patch. That someone else has slightly misinterpreted that as a definite statement of intent doesn't change anything.

I'm not sure what you mean by a "chimera" in this context, but the purpose of the thread was set out quite clearly in the first post: we are considering a possible update and would like to hear people's ideas about what might be included if it goes ahead. I'm not sure why you'd consider that "disappointing" or "a shame".

I am pleased to hear that Egosoft is still CONSIDERING a possible update, but would be far more grateful to hear that they are PLANNING one.

But it's true siddham. Other than the original post stating that EGOSOFT was considering a patch there has been no official announcement concerning a patch. Nothing has been said about work beginning on such patch, and nothing has been said about projected availability of a patch.

I'm doubtful any such patch will transpire. Resources, primarily money, but time and people also, are crucial for it to happen. Unless there's been a sudden influx of those resources, I would imagine Rebirth is the priority receiving most of the resources. Any patch to improve game play for X3TC/AP would be sourced mainly on table scraps.

I interpreted the statement Here at Egosoft Forum both initially and after three months as a Patch for AP at least was MORE LIKELY than NOT.

Patch that Affects TC Not so Sure.

But A Patch for AP or AP/TC was I thought At least more likely than a V4 Rebirth Patch or Expansion/ DLC for Rebirth and more likely to arrive before Future TNBT [The Next Big Thing].
