Does anyone recognize this screen?

Post by Yinepuhotep »

I haven't played TC in a very long time, decided to take a break from playing AP and started in on TC again, and suddenly I'm getting the screen in this image popping up every 10 seconds or so, which makes TC impossible to play. Does anyone recognize what script (or mod) this screen comes from?

Do you have a hotkey script relating to the M7M missile barrage system?

Second the ship your flying scene fly is messed up if I am not mistake, its not connecting the cockpit to the correct camera object so its defaulting to the middle of the ship.

Nope. No M7M hotkeys that I know of. Unfortunately, I may have to uninstall all my scripts in order to find out for sure, because with this popping up every 10 seconds, I can't even update my keys or AL settings.

As for the camera object, I'm completely lost as to why THAT happened. I just reinstalled my TC a week or so ago, and this is the first time I've tried running it since reinstalling, so it surprised me when the camera looked like this.

Which scripts and mods do you have installed? The screen just looks like the one from the standard missile barrage script.

It is a bug that somebody reports every six months or so. Do you have Missile Safety installed? That is the script most often associated with the bug. The bug is kind of obscure because Gazz says that the script should have nothing to do with missile volleys. And, yet, reports continue to come up every once in a while.

I tried a lot of different things to fix it, and the best that I have come up with, so far, is to uninstall Missile Safety and restore a previous saved game.

I have not looked closely at the script to see whether I could debug it. Also, I do not have a reliable way to reproduce the bug. I only know that it has happened to me, twice, and the solution was the same in both cases -- uninstall and restore an older save.

I believe that part of Missile Safety is built into AP. Vanilla AP does not seem to have this issue.

Checking on this now. I do indeed have Missile Safety installed. I assumed (Yes, I know what that means) that since the AP version was safe, the TC version would be, too.

Edit: Just finished checking it, with several new games launched, and this does indeed seem to be the problem. As soon as I disabled the script and loaded a new game, the problem went away.

Thank you very much for the suggestion. Now I can safely play TC again.

Glad you got it working!

You might consider posting a summary of your initial report and how you solved it in the Missile Safety thread, so that others will have a chance of finding the report in the future. Be sure to include the text, "Enter number of missile volleys" because that is the string that people will most likely search for.

Thanks for both the help in finding the problem, and the suggestion. Hopefully, the post in his thread will help people who run into the same problem, and hopefully he knows his script well enough to be able to use what little information I was able to provide. Unfortunately, I don't know how to debug scripts, or I'd try digging into it myself, because I do like the script.
