Boarding the Aran - Is it me or my Kraken? Now successful Thanks.

Tried searching, no luck. can someone direct me to threads on Aran boarding for advise?
The problem is found an Aran in my Kraken, repair lasered till hostile, instruct marines to board nearest ship (shown as Aran). "Command rejected"?????

It might be down to the ship not being able to launch marines. From memory I had a similar thing on a Cerberus... In the end i did it with a TP class ship!

Skism, have looked at the links and both suggest it can be boarded with an M7M, but my Kraken refuses the 'board all marines' command. Tried the 'Piracy' command but the Kraken jus rams the Aran.

Yep. But they require a target, and u can't target the Aran.

You hit the Aran with your repair laser from space until you hear the hostile BEEP and the music starts. Then get in your Kraken, C-5-Enter-Enter. It should be ablet o launch at the Aran. That's how I did it.

Yep that's the way it should be, but no! Why is the Kraken refusing the command?
If shields were too high it would warn accordingly, is the hull to fragile to accept boarding?
Notice non of the old school cappers contributing?

IIRC You need to repair the ship for 10+ minutes to get the hull strong enough to board. And you have checked that you have pods and marines available?

That's the problem; the boarding and the Aran situations have both changed a lot since 'old-school' days. Anyway, as far as I know they have no shields when you find them.

In X3AP I boarded the hostile Aran with no problems by space-walking 8 good marines from an M6. In X3TC I think (as it was a while ago) I last boarded yet another Aran from the later patches by just pointing the M7M straight at a close hostile Aran and manually firing pods like dumbfires.

Is it only from the Kraken? It shouldn't make a difference, but I had no trouble from my sirokos.

Can you borrow a cobra or something to test?

Board nearest ship ought to work once it's hostile.

One other question. It sounds daft, but might as well rule out all cases. IIRC board nearest ship command allows you to select the guys for the boarding. They were enough guys selected, right?

I specifically went searching for it with my Sirokos. Launch pods are perfect for it.

Ah ha!

Be sure you hear the music change before trying to launch your marines.

Also, use the launch all marines command which will pick up on the next unshielded ship.

Or select only boarding pods, ejecting other missile types if you have to, and then order a barrage which will suggest the closest target which should be the Aran.

Will try further repair. Pods not an issue as can't be targeted. (Late post suggest an alternative).

I have 5, 5* 100% marines. That's all I've used in previous Aran caps.

It's taken three hours to find the damn thing. Have a Cobra but could be another three hours of jumps to find one.

I'm still in the 'good old days'. Using 2.1. In X3TC.
Kraken refuses to launch marines to space walk, can't manually fire pods in a Kraken without target. <A Kraken is not an M6 or TP. Alan Phipps>

Only thing I can suggest is

Save
Patch it up to current patch level
Try again and see if board nearest ship works under the new boarding rules

If all else fails, copy the save, go modified and spawn a new ship to try boarding with. If that works, you've got an issue with your Kraken, and if not, then there's something weird with the Aran.

This worked, dumped all missiles apart from Boarding Pods, ordered a barrage, team landed and took the Arran. Cheers.

Boarding the Aran - Extra help needed.

Have managed to get a team on and cap the Aran. (Thanks ot Triaxx2s suggestion.)
It appears on my property (Ships) list.
However! I'm alongside in my Kraken and can't remember how to dock. Can't target to order my Kraken to dock. Can't space walk to board, again no target.
What have I forgotten to be able to dock??
Can 'change ships' and jump out of Unknown Sector leaving Kraken behind, but that's not right. Still can't get figure out how to get anything to dock!
