The bad news these modules are visible from a long distance with this flash green within the farming domes. So you have to hide them very well from the Patrols.

In that same post I say that the top right image could be a screenshot.EmperorJon wrote:NLS wrote:In this particular case I did NOT claim that the images are smoke and mirrors. Also I keep saying "renders". Renders are not smoke and mirrors, renders are 3D objects that can be used in the game (maybe with polygon reduction mind you).
In any case the last picture posted is not a screenshot. (it is now verified what it is and what it is not) You can call it a screenshot. You can call it Mike if you want.
You can misread me all you want. Yet even with my bad English I believe I was very clear. (and remember it all started because I... dared to ask if that was actual screenshot or concept art)
(btw a render in a 3D program is still concept art until it actually goes in the game and we see it as the actual game engine renders it in the real-time game environment)
As I said you can misread me all you want.

To be fair to NLS, I thought the two bottom shots were concept art as well. That one shot looks as if it's been taken from inside the dome! I know the Ego guys love them some detail, but I never would have expected them to go that far.

Actually you know NLS, you're right (not that you need us to tell you, I think =P ). You really do have a point here. I would certainly not call this whole image a screenshot (a model render isn't the same as a screenshot, surely). I'm not as positive that those two bottom-centre ones are drawings, though I wouldn't be surprised, and yes, why would they really be rendered? To be fair, in X3R and TC they had limited 3D modelling of what was inside the little pods in agricultural stations - maybe they just took this to the next level - but it does seem a little excessive.CAN I be ALLOWED the same treatment?
Hey NLS, a bit off-topic, but it seems to me you're wanting to keep yourself from getting false hopes, so that you don't have any unpleasant surprises when(/if, I guess =P ) the game comes round - is this right? If so, you have amazing determination =P
(Oh no, you forgot to close the parenthesis! Someone might get in!

Actually, I was being serious =P
I'm not a fan of downright negativity (and tbh I think his negativity is a bit excessive sometimes), but that doesn't mean he doesn't have a point sometimes. Just because I disagree with him doesn't mean I think he's never right.

Sorry, but the public release of a screenshot is not what determines whether something is concept art or not. Concept art is something an artist produces as an outline of what they would like the outcome of the modelling process to look like. The model is then created with that in mind, after which it is exported for use in the game. I have already told you that these showcase images are produced at the end of that process.NLS wrote:(btw a render in a 3D program is still concept art until it actually goes in the game and we see it as the actual game engine renders it in the real-time game environment)

You've never looked closely at bio and food factories in X3, have you?T.S.Zatoichi wrote:To be fair to NLS, I thought the two bottom shots were concept art as well. Admitting you have a problem is the first step in figuring out how to make it worse.

Very very good screenshot this week. Great work Ego-guys! And thanks for the clarification CBJ this hole "concept art" thing is geting old, the game *does* look that good. That glowy foggy green smoke that did make me hesitate for a second though.
Also there is this level of detail (leaves and interiors and all) because as stated by CBJ earlier you will be flying a lot closer to stations this time around, and there may even be drones that can fly inside stations.
Check out this video from last years Gamesom at about 2:46, it looks like the player is flying some sort of drone inside a station/complex (hint it is not concept art
)

BTW I hope those wire-frame images of the models get used in game, like as schematics or in HUDs or previews or something, they just look so damn sexy, it'd be a shame if they were only for presentation purposes

Sound like the level of details (not LOD), will be unprecedented.A drone can sometimes reach into vents and corridors that are so small that even your ship cant fit inside.

Not very far from the truth. Yes partially this is it.Sibilantae wrote:Hey NLS, a bit off-topic, but it seems to me you're wanting to keep yourself from getting false hopes, so that you don't have any unpleasant surprises when(/if, I guess =P ) the game comes round - is this right? (there is an other factor too that I won't talk about - enough flaming I got)
