So then I guess building one of these next to a highway in heavily populated argon space (or whoever is in the game) wouldn't be such a good idea afterall!

excellent pic, nice detail both plan and graphic view. i wonder how many people will be following suspicious traders into dense asteroid fields looking for a green glow.
also if each of those greenhouses is a module could be very profitable and nice to see how they fit together.

NLS, why do you have to be constantly negative? Yes! It's a screenshot! Or at least a model render. Look, it says "Screenshot of the week".
In case you didn't notice, there's a section in the Rebirth area which contains all these screenshots... and it's called "Screenshots". And then there's a section containing Concept Art. It's called "Concept Art".
Will you always refuse to accept the idea that yes, this game does exist in a state where the developers are taking screenshots! When the game is released, and if you purchase it, will you load it up and complain about how it's concept art? Or by then will you just think it's some sort of clever interactive trailer!?
Sorry, if I'm coming across a bit agressive, unintentional, but I just don't understand why it's always concept art! Why? What reason is there that the game can't exist yet!

OK if this is getting tiresome it is getting tiresome for me too.
WHERE do you see the negativity? LOAD and SEE the picture.
- The top left is a drawing. Do we agree or disagree?
- THE TWO BOTTOM pictures are CLEARLY drawings, OR some weird Photoshop filter, which I don't think so, because there is really no point in a space game to have 3D objects of... leaves (!) INSIDE a space module. It is not an FPS. It is not like someone will walk in there. It would be like in an FPS, the graphics guy went on and made a full dental set in his 3D human models in case someone looks them on the teeth from very close!
- The top right is the closest thing to a "screenshot". Yet, it is more possibly a render from a 3D object viewer. If not, great, but still this seems to be the only part that actually qualifies as "screenshot".
There is no NEGATIVITY OR POSITIVENESS in my post. I just ANALYSE the picture, as you ALL do. Now you want to see fantastic live capture in that picture where the two bottom pictures are also live capture with some artistic touch of a live DX3D filter... Feel free. You are really free to believe it. Good for you. Great.
CAN I be ALLOWED the same treatment?
Now unless Iifrit comes out and clearly says "guys this whole thing IS a screenshot... the top left is a capture from the on board computer of Albion with module data, the top right is live capture and the two bottom grabs are also from live capture if you go really close to the module" ...unless he does something like that, I have my OWN opinion and I believe I am entitled to say it. Except if this is not a forum anymore.
EDIT: Also since I noticed the closing of your post. If the above picture is a concept art OR a render OR a screenshot, is irrelevant with if the game exists or not. It MAY exist, it MAY even be in final stages of production, it may even be just before going gold and they may still feed us with concept art. I did not say if the game exists or not (at least in that post).

Huh?? It's a greenhouse for growing Spaceweed. Why would you be opposed to 3D Spaceweed objects? Would you rather some sort of 2d "painted" texture?NLS wrote:there is really no point in a space game to have 3D objects of... leaves (!) INSIDE a space module.
Personally, I've always wanted this degree of "realism" in X. Think of the modding possibilities! My mouth waters at the prospects.

What you're looking at here is an example of what I'd describe as an "asset showcase". These are things the artists send round to the rest of the team when a new asset is completed and ready to be placed in the game, so that we all know what's available and what people are talking about when they refer to it.NLS wrote:Sorry I HAVE to ask (like I'll get a reply...): Is this indeed screenshot or concept art?
Most part seems to be concept art and MAYBE the top right is a render.
The showcase image is generally made up from a selection of renders from various sources, along with 2D artwork that is also available (e.g. for in-game advertising signs). I don't have an artist to hand to get exact answers, but in this case it looks to me like we have a mix of wireframe and full model renders from within the modelling package, and possibly some that were rendered in-game (the one centre right being the most likely candidate in this case, I'd say). The choice of where and how they are rendered is purely a matter for the artist when deciding how best to present them, and while they could certainly also use concept art for such a presentation if they wanted to, I don't see any concept art in this particular one.
Well, at a guess the negativity people are seeing comes from the relentless assumption that everything we show in these images is just smoke and mirrors.NLS wrote:WHERE do you see the negativity?

Thank you!
As for your last comment. In this particular case I did NOT claim that the images are smoke and mirrors. I asked if they are an actual (in the sense of ACTUAL IN GAME) screenshot. I say it is not. You also say it is not (or you don't?). So where is the problem?
A render saved from Blender is not really a screenshot. Am I wrong in this?
