[AP/TC] Is there a player's Shipyard ? (Solved...for now)

I have various scripts and mods.
One enables me to create a shipyard (eg Cycrow's Cheat Package).
However I have tried various ways to get a player owned shipyard,but each time they won't let me dock capitals,except in the case of the PHQ.

The nearest compromise is a "Friendly Race" shipyard.

Is there a mod or script that will create a player owned shipyard which allows me to dock Capital ships?

btw I am playing TC v 3.1.1 with Bonus Pack and Steam DLC

Based on the fact that shipyards have no functions (other than the ability to dock ships to it), I would suggest to simply get an Equipment Dock. It can be purchased in Vanilla and you can dock several capital ships to it.

I like the fact that shipyards are long and docks more capitals than EQDs.

I have used multiple EQDs in former games where I have not been playing modified.

You could always install the Xtra Ship Pack - that has buyable shipyards for a couple of races, which have the extra function of having actual ship construction capabilities (similar to the PHQ) thrown in.

Thanks for that, as I was not looking for more ships,I have ignored it in the past.

Downloaded and installed this morning but have problems with it.
I will read through the mod's thread and see if others have had the same problem.

Meanwhile....

Any other suggestions?

I have got it running now and I like it very much.

Still not what I was looking for,but very good just the same Very Happy

Gives me more scope in certain areas and the new ship models are great !

So, still looking for a standard Shipyard that will let me dock my capitals.

You can try cloning the shipyards with the clone station script thats linked on the Xtra ship pack page. Some people have had problems getting Cap ships to dock and this is the fix for that.

two things that might help
if you take a copy of the scene file for the normal ship yard and rename it the same as an equipment dock you can make the equipment dock use the shipyard model
if you like i could upload one for you if you dont'/won't want to do it yourself

three things about swaping models
don't be in a sector if you do this on a old save game
if you do this undock your ships from the equipment docks cos strange stuff happens

and while the ship yard model has six cap ship docks it only has 5 small ship docks. unlike th 15(i think) the equipment dock has


when you script in stations (i've been working on adding cap ship docking to all stations) straight into the game the cap ship docks don't work but if you add them to a TL and build them they will

out of interest how many capship docks would you like the an equipment dock to have?

There are over 400 pages there.
Which page is the cloning station software?
Or do you mean Cycrow's Cheat package?

I have tried this with Cycrow's CT , but to no avail.
Capital ships still don't dock.

Standard PHQ has 9.
Is this possible for EQ or Shipyard ?

X-tra ships mod's shipyards are basically re-modeled PHQs.
I am not looking for RE abilities at Shipyard.
I just want to use them as storage areas at Twisted Skies while I build my Invasion Fleet.
So the extra docking clamps of the standard shipyards appeal to me better than the EQ docks.

the station cloning script fot the Xtra ship pack is on the first page
go past the looong list of ships, past the stations,turrets and Recommended Scripts and then you get to Known issues and solutions


here is your equipment dock
go some where with no equipment docks and save your game
download this and unpack it in your game folder (i used winrar)
it should be objects/stations/station_scenes/others/argon_equipmentdock_scene
with winrar you get extract here and extract to(name of rar file use extract here
load your game and all equipment docks should be using the shipyard model

this will give you an equipment dock with 12 cap ship docks
if you have not downloaded the first thing i put up
go to your game folder and make a folder named objects
in that folder make a folder named stations
in that folder make a folder named station_scenes
in that folder make a folder named others
put the argon_equipmentdock_scene.BOD file in the others folder

Another way to do it is to create a new station in TDocks copying a standard shipyard entry from TFactories, give it a new ID such as SS_SHIPYARD_BUY, change it's subtype to SS_DOCK_EQUIP you now have a shipyard that operates as an equipment dock, can dock 6 capitals and can be added to shipyards to be bought as and when you need them.

Seems that if I want to bend the game to my style,I will have to gradually get into programming again,as I keep promising myself. Smile

Have tried the cloning,but results the same as Cycrow's CP. Sad

So I am going to give these helps a whirl.

Many views to this thread from pilots.
But the ideas are coming forward now with practical help that will help many others. Very Happy

I used the script coding you gave.
Made the folders.
Saved.
tried.
Fail.
examined closer.
Windows automatically added ".txt" ,so removed that.
Works fine now.

Found it interesting that you can dock above and below the docking arms.Maybe not in vanilla or have I just missed that for all these years?

I can see a potential clash with X-tra ships mod,in that he is changing the Shipyards and EQ Docks to new models,eg Teladi PTNI HQ sector.
Maybe ok for as long as the Argon ones are not touched...

This near enough what I was looking for and gives me scope to try out ideas by playing with the code.
Talking of which,which line of code and/or which part do I change to alter number of docks to greater or less ?

I will be trying out all ideas put forward here,so please anyone , feel free to add any other solutions or ideas.

I will be bookmarking this thread for ease of access. Very Happy

However , I have the original and have tried it on AP Very Happy

while it will work in ap it will only work for argon equipment docks

the arms are there just for show. Cap ship docks unlike the little ship docks are just a point in space

if you look at the green code text a few posts up pay attention to the last six lines
they are what add the extra six docking points
for them all i did was copy the original then changed two parts
the first to raise the dock point above the center of the model
