It seemed strange because it was a single Woden without any owned ships, one in CBSE and one in CBSW. But, I know this game and how "random" things often turns out to be very similar. :D

About the Pirates thing...I guess I'll just have to whine at a scripter to see if they'll make me something to constantly set them friendly. It's hard to play as a pirate when your own race keeps trying to kill you until you can't dock at the stations any more.

I couldn't resist. >:3

Isn't there that "Friendly Pirates" script, though? This One Here?

I think that pretty much does everything that you want (and it's also Graxter made!).

I'm getting a lot of pirate ships in Terran space, which seems a bit weird since it's supposed to be "incredibly secure" in Vanilla. Is that something this Jobs changes?
Guess it's good for farming rep, at least. :P

I don't know. Are they Syndicate/Privateers? If so, then yes. I believe I set flags to owner/invert plus X-Universe only. If I'm right, that means Pirates will spawn in any non-pirate sector, which includes Terran space.

Don't worry, though--the next update will hopefully fix these problems. Which, I'm pleased to say, is coming along nicely. Just the Teladi left, out of the major races. My redone patrol scripts need redoing as well, so, say, a Friday release?

Nope, only "Pirate [Shiptype]" so far that I've seen.

I look forward to it! :D

Yeah, the pirates definetly need a club to the head. I flew through 18 sectors today and every one of them had a station under attack by a small mob of pirate fighters. Makes it kinda hard to set up station traders and mobile miners.

I have to say: I really don't have this problem at all with Pirates.

Can't think of anything else here that would be doing it.

You know what? Now I'm even more embarrassed and confused than ever. Somehow I managed to not merge this Jobs in with my last SRM update, meaning I'm running the vanilla one...after my blunder thinking Salvage Insurance was messed up in the SRM thread, now it turns out I didn't even have this one installed. I'd say I was drunk, but...I don't drink. :o Better yet, how the heck did these pirates get EVERYWHERE with vanilla Jobs?

...going back to my corner now...

It can happen sometimes, OOZ.

I can recall games that had "Pirates! On the loose again!" all over the place, and then games in which pirates were pretty much wiped off the face of the map within the first few hours.

(The latter scenario hasn't happened since Vee added Pirate Syndicate and Privateers, which made me colon-three.)

Anyhows: Jobs IV. Want. Want so much. :D

I am playing with this jobs pack and SRM + Heavy Hull Patch + IR:CE + NPC Bailing. I've done similar before and have made sure this time to crank the Huge Ship Bailing factor down to 1 to prevent free M2s from being found everywhere.

After a few days, I've noticed that the only capital ships I have found bailed so far have been Teladi (a Shrike and a Pteranodon) sitting in Argon sectors. These look like they were from pirate strikeforces (the Shrike had a pirate Osprey still homebased to it even). I looked through your SRM jobs file, and I noticed that the pirate capital ship jobs have the same somewhat low morale as the other pirates.

Just some feedback, not even sure that this is a bad thing.

That's either a smiley in disguise, or you had some sort of intestinal trouble.

Perhaps both. Like a DEFCON scale.

All major races are done. Most corporations are included. SRM corps for Split, Paranid and Teladi haven't been moved over, and neither have Strong Arms and Duke's. This update includes only military ships.

If you'd like to download this, look around a bit, and note anything that looks abnormal, I'd appreciate it. I've tried to make sure everything is done properly, but sometimes things sneak through, and it's a big universe. Let me know what you think of the new names.

If you just want to play your game, wait for the full release.

Next step will be to finish off the corporations. Yaki and Pirates will come next, then Xenon and Kha'ak.

My attempts at updating the patrol scripts aren't working out too well.

Ran into a Split Military Elephant in Xenon Sector 598...that made me chuckle.
I have two Yaki Battle Group Advanced Chokaros in the sector that becomes The Hub with the non-Beta Jobs version. This is after entering the sector for the first time, before hauling Squiddy over. At the moment they've deployed their fighters and are mulling around menacingly as I read the plotlogs... :P

The official Jobs v4 release is here.

The readme;

If you aren't going to start a new game:

1. Open a copy of Jobs v4. Delete everything after 7000.
2. Load your game. Run the delete nameless script.
3. Save, put Jobs v4 in your types folder, and reload.

Failure to complete these steps will result in odd behavior. You have been warned.

This is a work in progress. If you see any readtexts, let me know. If you see anything that looks odd--escorts of the wrong race, for example--let me know.

The Yaki are something of an experiment. A C&C M1 should spawn in a random sector, and a large fleet should spawn around them. It will then spread out somewhat.

Many capital ships have their spawn sectors hardcoded. If you're using sector takeover of some sort, this may be a problem. I'm working on a solution.

You will need EES or CWP. See main post for links.

So... what happens if you don't use them? I want to use EES, but the TXU site is down right now.

Must... resist... urge... to reply with another screencap...
Admitting you have a problem is the first step in figuring out how to make it worse.
