I proudly present,
How to set up your battles, XFF style for Dummies!
Introduction
So you want to watch the battles for your self and test your own fleet but don't know how? Well in that case, this guide is perfect for you!
First things first. You're going to need the official XFF map pack and the official XFF script.
Installation
Map Pack
To install the map pack, extract all the maps from the archive onto your desktop or some other easily accessible place.
Once you've done that you're going to want to find your TC directory.
If you have steam, it's probably 'C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\X3TC'
If you have the DVD version, it's probably 'C:\Program Files\Egosoft\X3TC'
Once you've found your directory, make a folder called 'maps'.
After you've made the folder just copy-paste the maps into it.
Script
To install the script, open the 'scripts' folder in your TC directory and copy-paste the script into it.
At this point, if all you want to do is use the save games; you're set. Just download them, re-name them into X01 and put them into 'Documents\Egosoft\X3TC\saves'. Before doing this, you might want to back up what saves you already have in there incase you overwrite a save that you're currently using.
Cheatpackage
If you want to set up your own battles, you are recommended to have this package. For installation instructions and download, check the S&M forum.
Setting up your own battles
To use the XFF script, start a new game and choose 'Custom Universe'.
Another menu should slide up. In this, choose any deathmatch map.
Once your game has loaded, you're going to want to change your name to 'Thereshallbewings' (note the capital 'T'). This enables the script editor.
If you've installed the cheatpackage, now would be a good time to 'install all equipment'. Also, give your self one salvage insurance. Then, turn on god mode, unlimited salvage insurance and supertune your ship a few times.
To activate the XFF script, go to 'Global Commands' under Pilot>Advanced.
Select 'script editor' and the script editor should open up.
Select Ok and a list of scripts should pop up.
Scroll down until you find xff.spawnfleets (or something really familiar to that). Highlight it (don't click on it, just hover your mouse over it) and press 'r'.
A window will pop up asking for what to run it on. Choose 'select object' and the universe map will open. Click on the only sector that is visible then choose your ship. After this, another window will open. Just press enter to run the script.
A new windows will open. It will have the two fleets, and under each, add ships.
To add a ship, first see which fleet you want it to be in. Then choose 'add ship' under the fleet you want to add it to. A new window will open asking how many of those ships you want. Type in a number and press enter. Then you will be taken to the ship selection menu. Scroll through the list to find the ship you're looking for or set some filters by clicking on the different tabs.
Once you've chosen a ship, the cargo menu will show up. In this menu you can choose what you want in your ship(s). Same thing as the ship selection process. Click 'add cargo' and type in how much of the cargo you want. Then choose what you want.
When you are done equipping your ship, click 'done'.
Repeat the above steps until the two fleets are how you want them to be.
After you're done setting up the two fleets, click 'start!!!'.
Enjoy.
