Fighter spam will not work.... I just tried... I spawned 200 Harriers (with Mass drivers) against a single Odyseus and every single one died within 2 minutes and did less than 10% Hull damage...

I agree with you Master of the Blades, and also suggested an upper limit on ship numbers. IF either side tries to use a large number of ships, all that happens is the CPU cannot process all the ship scripts and some arbritary result pops out of the battle - I suggest a limit of 30 ships as a starting point?

I withdraw my suggested fleet, but I will come up with another one.

What was the Odysseus armed with?

And I'd swap some Solanos for another Yokohama happily (that leaves 5 Yokos and 32 Solanos, same spec)

PSG all round for the Odyseus - I spawned 3, but the other two were not needed! LOL - It was utter, utter carnage - There were so many ships too that half just stopped as CPU was overloaded -

This is addictive... and a superb idea... Tried an M6 fleet against an Odysseus the Odysseus again won (against 11 CIG HCPs with PRGs in turrets).

I don't think it would be right to force ships to have a homebase carrier, but I do think that there should be a strict limit on the number of ships.

That was a suggestion and not an update to the rules. Though I'd second the idea of some limit to the maximum number of use ships due to the fact that Hardware is limitied. However, I don't think after Gavrushkas experience with the force of the PSG unleashed anyone would try a fleet like this.

It also seems that I'm not the only one trusting the Falcon Hauler, altough it's a rather mediocre M3 but for the shielding.

Well I'm not too sure of the prices, but heres my fleet.

1 Python PPCs in front. Ion Cannons in the side, and CFA everywhere else. Roughly 90mil

1 Tiger, PPCs up front, ISRs in the sides and Flak everywhere else. 70mil

I Panther, ISRs up front, FLAK in the sides and CIGs up top with HEPTS back and down. 50mil

20 Falcon Haulers (in Panther)with EBCs, 50 ammo, 100 Wasps, and a PRG in the turret. 20-30 mil

12 Solanos (in panther)with MDs and 50 ammo and 25 wasps. 12-20 mil

4x HCentaurs with Ion D up front and HEPTS in turrets. 50-75 wasps. about 50mil

so thats roughly (I'm being generous) 240mil I think...

Probably get worked but what the hell right!

I want to make a small programm which calculates the price of a fleet with all weapons for each ship and export it as text to copy it into the forum.

Cause of this I have a question:

If you buy a new ship from the ship yard you always have a shield in the ship.
Can you substract the price for the shield from the price of the ship?

Well, it does make a good way to limit the ships, mostly. I mean, even under that restriction, you can bring 135 fighters to the fray. They're probably unarmed M5's, but... :D

So I'll take as follows, with eng.x3tc.ru as my guide:

UCS Overwatch
1x Raptor
Armament: 8x FAA 12xPBE 2,800 Wasp Missiles
Shields: 2x2GJ

2x Albatross
Armament: 8x FAA, 1,000x Wasp Missiles
Shields: 6x200MJ

20x Mamba Vanguard
Armament (per ship): 2x PAC, 6xHEPT, 200x Wasp Missiles
Shields: 3x25 MJ

Total: 223,455,617

Shouldn't be too computer breaking. Opposing fleet breaking though I hope. And yes, before anyone asks, I did consider the balance between the Python and Raptor, and the Raptor's speed, and flak beats out the Python being slower and more heavily armed. It's also much more expensive for less gain. Besides the spread of missiles across all ships should even out the lost damage. And yes, I could have used a heavier missile, but this one is fast, hits hard and does enough damage to be worth launching.

Incidentally, there's no reason to select the Hauler over the Sentinel. The second shield is more than enough to account for 30 speed and 1700 hull.

Er, Dude, at which SY do you buy your adv. Mambas? :roll: And there is a reason to prefer the F Hauler: The Sentinel is also not allowed in this :P

Now here's what I want to see - an all-Boron fleet. We don't usually hear much love for the fish-faces' designs, and if I were a Boron I wouldn't stand for it. :D

That, and a couple of Threshers on anti-capital duty could be quite terrifying, if done right...

I was wondering if round II could be race specific...

I'm clueless as to what to put in my fleet at the minute - I might roleplay and have a pure Yaki fleet for chuckles.

@Triaxx2 - My maths works you could have around 5,000 m5s if they were unarmed not 135! Scary....

Imperium3 - I don't think you can set missile fire probability as it is Argon versus Xenon (no player owned faction) - and all the tests I did - including setting one side as player with 100% fire probability couldn't get more than 1 or 2 missiles out altogether. It seems that there is just too much for any CPU to handle.

I think what is needed is a SINGLE sector custom universe created so there will be no scripts running for 40,000 X Universe ships - Otherwise it is just meltdown - no CPU is going to be able to process two large fleets successfully alongside the entire TC universe.

I think creating a single sector universe would not be hard for someone familiar with this?

In fact, maybe I'll whip up a fun warzone sector... at some point.

But yeah, all it takes is firing up the universe editor, placing a sun, maybe tweaking around with the backdrop, and exporting.
