Pandora Engine and Rudder Upgrade Chart

This was originally posted on the end of the thread
http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=174577
but I thought I'd bump it out 'cos it might be more accessible in it's on thread.

Which ships to put them on?
I was asking myself the same question.

For me, in my old 'normal start' game, it was a no-brainer,
I put everything I could find on the Hyperion.

But now I'm on a Kha'ak start game, & I've got a very low chance of getting the M7,
I'm not going to spend that long on all race-reps (again) for the Bala Gi requirements.

So which ship to put pandora's on?, without actual figures for various ships
I couldn't decide, so I worked through the figures.

It's going to be everything on an Odysseus (when I'm allowed to buy one, & I've got the cash).
I've had pandora messages for all 8 crates already (including MKR & X472, damn),
so bring on the super-Oddy :D

Here are the figures I got:

I think this is all correct, if somebody sees an error please tell :)

i noticed it earlier today :D

i think you should fix the arrow and starburst from m4 to m5

a part from that it's really an impressive work :D

Well spotted, now fixed.

I must admit I must have noticed this at the back of my mind,
& something didn't seem to gel, just goes to show can't always get it
right first time :)

Very nice piece of work. Thanks.

1500 rudder on the Starburst must be interesting. I wonder what the AI makes of it.

Not hard at all. I have had 2 starts at Enemy of the States, and one at Khaak. It is not hard to get the race requirements to start Bala Gi mission.

IMHO if you put the upgrade on any other than the Hyperion or any other cap ship, it is a waste.

Thanks for the very useful stats Dave!

I reckon a couple for me on a Python (who could fly a ship at only 69.4! madness) and the others on the M7.

Very nicely done. ;)

A note on the Arrow... Its design is of Boron origin, not Argon.

I agree with the scary thing. No M1 or M2 should go faster than 150, and over 350 is just insane. :D
My boron friends just came back from a planet where the dominant lifeform had no bilateral symmetry, and all I got was this stupid F-Shirt.

hmm... putting them on the Hyperion would be a waste... I only tend to use it OOS...

Hope no ships were missing, could've added fighter drone etc etc,
but I don't see that anyones likely to pilot those :)

Yes, true, but the game files lump quite a few misc. ships as having Argon race, like the UFO, even though there is a UFO 'race' type in the files.
Most of them don't really fit the races, so I guess ES had to put them somewhere.

This is agrivating to me because I can't seem to find not one of these crates. I was told to look on the BBS for the "pandora" message but haven't seen one yet. From what I've been told, they rarely ever show up. How does everyone seem to find so many? Do they show up in certain sectors or races or is it all completely random? Please help! :headbang:

I never saw a BBS message ever in my original game
- I'm fairly convinced there's a bug where some player's games
(possibly only in older games) won't get them at all.
I had to resort to the script that tells you what sectors they are in
(although it gets some wrong & you still don't get them - I still only found 3 engine & 2 rudder crates).

But in my re-start, it seems that every second or third station dock
there's a Pandora BBS, any station any sector.

Gomoc's 'show free engine/rudder' script:
http://web.t-online.hu/lurch/pandora.zip
iirc you unzip it to X3\...\scripts, run X3, get the list in a message,
close X3 & remove the script (I think you need to have the script editor enabled).

Great resource Dave Toome.

Which version of Excel is that xls file in?

I use Open Office 2.0.4 and all of the overtune figures are the same as stock.

Looking at the formula it reads:

=$H24+$G24*K$4/10

for the Hyperion with 1 box of engine and still shows 131.1

I guess the entry K$4 should read $K4, and it's been corrupted during import. I've never seen this error before so it's worth warning others about.

The formulae are correct, but it looks like OpenOffice Calc treats
text fields differently if they are used as part of a formula.
The '+10' in cell K4 looks like 10 to Excel but seems to look like 0 to Calc.

Here's a working .ods file
(sort of defeats the OO xls file compatability a bit though)

Doesnt work in Open office :(

I just get each row having identical values to the normal maximum in every column.
Argon Nova 35.8 89.6 45.8 114.4 89.6 114.4 89.6 114.4 89.6 114.4 89.6 114.4

Kind of like that (thats a copy/paste from open office).

I can see the formula but it doesnt seem to be making the columns work out right.

You can now collide with asteroids at twice the speed,
should make quite a splash.

Luke Skyscraper, have a look two posts up from your's, in this thread.

Ok thanks for that :)

ummm I have no idea what to do with the contents of that zip file though.. I see some xml files and a couple or three directories.

I've never really used open office other than for viewing files.

ok never mind :)

Click on each cell containing +10 +20 etc

in the forumal field you see it reads '+20

remove the '

and it changes it from +10, +20, etc to just 10, 20, etc but the formulae work correctly then.

There's probably a more elegant fix but that will do for me :)
