Help with script editor please

Post by matt152 »

Ok sorry if this has already been answered, but I looked through the sticky's and about 20 pages of posts and then gave up.

I have downloaded a script and put it in the scripts folder, I then go to run it in the games but can't find it, either in a saved game or a new one. Is this something new with version 1.4 patch or am I doing something wrong?

If the script is unsigned then you need to enable the script editor. Instructions for this are in the various sticky threads that you've already looked at. ;)

Hi CBJ, I followed the sticky and alreay have the script editor running, I then downloaded the script again and placed it in the script folder but i still can't find it when I try to run it.
The script is from http://www.the-commander.com/x2scripts.htm it the one by babyface called reveal the whole universe
What does a unsigned script mean?

You've placed the scripts into your /scripts folder.
You enter the game.
You enter the script editor.
You see the long text list of all of the scripts.
They aren't in there?
If this is the case, you've put them into the wrong directory.
Double check that you don't have two X2 directories or something like that.
You've read this?

Ok With in the X2 game folder on my PC there is two folders that have scripts in the title. The first one is called scripts, the other folder is called scripts.bp103.
I placed the downloaded script in the scripts folder not the scripts.bp103 folder.
Should I have extracted the file into the scripts.bp103 folder?

Oh and I have read the post that u supplied the link too as well.

You must first unpack the downloaded zip archive (reveal.whole.universe.zip) with WinZip or any other zip-compilant program. Then you must copy the extracted xml file (BabyFaces.Reveal.Whole.Universe.xml) into directory scripts in your X2 directory (for me it's "D:\X2 - The Threat\scripts"). Then run the game, open the script editor, find the script called "Reveal.Whole.Universe" and press R to run it. That should do it.

I have no idea what "scripts.bp103" is.

is this script supposed to let you see all the sectors?
If it is you can try another one from http://X2source.com/
it put a satellite in every sector, all the hostile sectors have a turret next to the satellite.
Also to find it go to scripts on the left hand side, then go to cheats then explore.universe.
Read the read me to find out what to do.

Rename the xml file to reveal.whole.universe an it'll work. The script engine requires the physical filename to be the same as the name inside the file. In other words, delete the babyface part of the file name.
