Have I got too many mads\scripts running - and if so which ones should I use?

Post by Dread »

The list of what I have just reinstalled as my previous installation kept CTD. Trying the same loadout of mod n scripts I had before to see if happens again and thought Id see what you all think:

X2 Vanilla
BonusPackage
AL Script
No CD Check
CWS Turrets (think its called that)
MH Carrier
FLDS
Pirate Guild 2.0
Xai AI
Marks Patrol Scripts
Terradine 1.7

I really want to hold onto Terradine (of course :D ) Pirate Guild, FLDS (fantastic solution to ware mananging) and Marks Patrol Scripts - but I dont know where I stand as to what scripts work with what

Help people as I am foncused

im not to sure, but terradine has alot of mods and scripts packaged in the install, so something could be conflicting because of that, i had problems when i 1st started using terradine, and it was because i was using another script that override something important. Cant remember what it is, but yeah, youd have to go through some of the readme’s, see what in the package b4 you fresh install everything again. apart from that, I cant rely tell ya any more unless I went through them my self,

I don't know much about these:
MH Carrier
FLDS

This one had a problem in earier version:
Pirate Guild 2.0 (1.20?)

The rest are ok, I am using them. :)

Well Ive decided to reduce the scripts Im running and have removed the following due to further CTD's

Pirate Guild 2.0
CMS (or whatever its called) Turrets
Millings Carrier
Xai AI

Seems to be running ok and seems to be running at a higher FPS\smoother too :)

Ill post again if this combo poses more CTD's.

The "CWS Defensive Turrets" would not cause that problem because it only enables standard script commands. It does not add any new ones. 8)

Well if thats the case and they dont cause CTD when used with Terradine, then do you think the culprit could have been MH's Carrier or XAI AI :?

I do remember reading that your Pirate 1.20 was compatible with Terradine so Im going to put that back on :)

Never had any problem with XaiCorp AI and i'm using it in all my games. Maybe MH's carrier is incompatible with the latest bonus pack (with telcat), dunno.

I have not had any problems with the Xai Advanced AI Project script, either. But it is a very large and complex set of scripts, so it is hard to be sure. 8)

You might not be able to remove scripts that are running in the game. The savegame files include a set of the scripts that are active. Loading a savegame also loads the scripts that were in use the last time it was active, Even though you might have deleted them from your scripts folder! :o

To completely remove a script you might have to go back to a save from before it was used.

In the Script Editor (MSCI) hit PgDn to scroll dowbn the top half of the screen. It lists the script files that are currently known or active to the game. :)

I was getting the CTD's after installing a fresh vanilla version and then all the scripts and TerraMod as listed in first post, and this was also on a fresh install of XP. I was not using a saved game from earlier either, it was a fresh game that I had started and still got the CTD's.
All I can think is that it is a couple of the scripts clashing somewhere.

you might wanna do it 1 by 1 ..

meaning .. install a script .. run a fresh game with it for a few hours ..
if nothing bad happens .. install a next 1 .. remove the previuous ..
and run that 1 for a few hours ..

when no scripts/mods seem to be causing trouble ..

start installing scripts 1 by 1 .. running the game for a few hours ..

this way you should be able to pinpoint your 'bad script/mod' (or clash)
