Wachhund (Watchdog?)

Post by Some Strange Man »

I'd asked already in the English off topic, but Germans rarely go in there, so here's the original

I just want to check out a German company called Yakumo that nobody here knows about.

:o I just tried retranslating that. Eeek is right. :o

I've heard of the company, but I'm not familiar with the quality of their products. AFAIK there is no german Watchdog equivalent...

I'll see if I can find some info. I'll get back to you on that.

Low or mid quality mostly, I don't like that stuff. May be the service is allright, cause I never heard about big trouble.

What about in comparison to Fuji?

I found a cheap fuji camera with decent specs, but the entire yakumo range has better straight up specs, and lower prices than the rest of the Fuji range.

So,

A little note for you: Please don't use that online-translations. They are bad. You could give it to a German community member, that could translate it for you.

Thanks.
This will rather not result "Eeek"s :)
We don't eat you for asking, we also need a translator sometimes (maybe like me...., look at my post and guess why....)

I bought a 17" monitor of them in 1994 and used it until 2000. Never had a problem with it. Maybe it wasn't high end, but good enough for those 6 years.

But you know how fast quality and service is changing in this sector....

Better spend a little bit more money and buy it somewhere in your region so that you know where you have to go in case you encounter some problems.

Ah, PIC, thanks for that, thats the type of reply I was looking for, well, that or "Don't buy from them, they're evil!". For the same spec stuff, I'd be paying roughly double the amount, for features I likely wouldn't be able to make use of. Since it is limited use I'm planning for it, I think I'll go with the cheap, but seemingly reliable (all the reviews on amazon are positive, well except the one that said it did what it was supposed to and nothing else).

@KuSamato, yes, I can be confusing. I'm looking for a new digital camera, and if it ever needs any kind of repair, it'll need someone who knows about Yakumo cameras to fix it, and that is pretty much limited to Yakumo, so I needed to check them out in a way that wouldn't be easily perverted by a unscrupulous website.

@Da Destroyer, I am now very tempted to say.... " Eat me. " I think we all like spam occasionally :D

I haven't found any bad reviews or articles for Yakumo products. The only concerns would be those that PIC already mentioned. Is there no official UK distributor for their products?

Not that I know of. Amazon sells them. :)

@Canon, The problem with Sony cameras is, well, the price.

Yes, maybe. But what is more important for you? The quality of your pictures or the price? Before buying my second camera, I compared all products in this class. The result is, that this camera is cheaper than for Example the Canon EOS series and has more Features! I buied this camera in a spezialized chop an I saved(I hope its the right word  ) a lot of money! But its your decision! :D

I've actually got an older Fuji camera. Nice large pictures, if you like horrible graininess. I doubt any of their cameras in the price range I decided upon would be much better, in fact, some of them would probably be worse.

So I'm going with the relative unknown company called Yakumo, for a 4MP, 8x optical zoom camera for £156, instead of a Fuji camera with the same specs for well over £200, or a Fuji camera with minimal improvement on the camera I already have.

Seems to be a good deal for you. :D
The best printer for your new camera could be the Canon i965
The features:

2400*4800 dpi
(randfrei) 10*15
(randfrei) Din A4
I didnt know the word for "randfrei" Sorry

Well, I finally got a digital camera.

Its not the one I originally ordered since Amazon stopped selling them. :( Anyway, I got the Yakumo 67X. Surprisingly good quality!

A few entirely unedited (but compressed) pics I've already taken with it....
