Anybody Know How

Post by Captain Kremen »

To get a MSI KT4 Ultrea board working????  anybody got one?
It wont even install the damn operating system properly    something to do with the blue tooth technology onboard i think It falls over with win 98 during the detect hardware stage and sends win 2000 insane I am considering nailing it to the wall as a piece of modern artwork at the moment.
I have built about 17 PC's recently and never had any problems (usually sticking to ASUS or ABIT boards) I thought everybody is raving about MSI boards at the moment I'll give em a go. -NEVER AGAIN!!!!!! I,m not even impressed by the bios setup they are using you have to manually tell it you have a XP 1900 chip by imputting the correct multplyer and FSB setting it doesnt have a drop down setting

Well having had two MSI boards in my history of comp building, and both of them going tits up just outside the warranty period, I wouldn't touch another one with a 40' pole.

Just my £0.02

Whats your graphics card? I read that a radeon 9700/9700 pro isn't fully compatible with 8x AGP motherboards yet. Only when the motherboards get a more updated bios will it be fully compatible.

I'm using a GF4 Ti4200 PC3200DDR RAM and An XP1900 Chip the only things that are origianal and admittedly a bit slow are two 12Mb ATA33 Hards drives, but they should wor the board ibs the latest KT4 333FSB with all the goodies on (*xagp Gb Lan Iee 1394 Blue tooth) and it should god damn work             I'm considering using that fine divining tool that finds which components are expensive and which are not and giving the boad a good seeing too (5lb lump hammer if anyone was wondering) I'm gonna give it another week and take it back to tyhe supplier if I have no Joy and get an Asus board
