I'm not sure how to title this page... It was supposed to be a prologue..but...its more like a someone telling the story of the fate of the Scorpion ( An M6 class Corvette ).
I had a few more chapters...but...they were inconsistant with the X-Universe...so I scrapped them. This is much better...I think anyway.
I did make references to Cartel Inc. though... hope that was ok...I couldn't think of anything else at the time. Can be changed if people don't think it should be in there.
Just a warning... I have a habit of making a quote for every chapter...usually they are relavent...and sometimes they are the way that I feel. When I wrote this prologue, I was listening to a CD...can you guess who?
“There are no unlock-able doors, there are no
Un-winnable wars. There are no un-rhyme-able
Rhymes or un-sing-able songs…There are no
Unbeatable odds, there are no believable gods.
There are no un-nameable names. Shall I say
It again…Each night when the day is done
I don’t ask much, I just want you…”
Ozzy Osborne – I just want you
Anarchy base ten mazura’s ago.
"The Scorpion you ask? It was rumored to be in a battle and was never heard from again. Nothing like a state of the art Corvette just disappearing. Some say it was holed badly during a battle with a rival pirate clan and no one ever saw it again.
No registry either…that’s for legal ships and such. No, the Scorpion was a pirate vessel through and through. The Argon and the Boron might have started it…But clan Scorpion finished it. Rumor has it that the Boron and Argon races were working on a prototype corvette…one of a kind. Well…they tested her out and there were a few malfunctions during the testing. They charged up the jump drives based on some old technology rumored to be from a ship supposedly from earth. As the story goes, the corvette made the jump…and it dropped right in the middle of Danna’s Chance…Still not sure if that’s where they wanted to be. The jump shorted out everything on her. Defenseless she was. No guns, no missiles…, and no engines, completely cold no mayday or anything. One of the pirate clans, Clan Scorpion, spotted her listing and they had at her. Fired a few rounds at her and when there was no return fire…they came back round and boarded her. Now the strange thing about it was that when they boarded the corvette, there was no one aboard. Not a single soul living or dead could be found aboard. Well…Since there was no one there to claim her, Clan Scorpion claimed the ship and named her the Scorpion. Some jazura’s later, Clan Scorpion had a skirmish with another band of pirates…some say it was Cartel Inc. and other say it was the Weed Runners. Either way…there was a battle out in Split Fire between the two clans. They had all their toys out there that day. Capital ships, Corvettes, and so many fighters it was amazing that the whole sector wasn’t torn apart. It was a grand battle to see as I heard from a mate that was there.
When it was near the end of the battle, there was a lone cruiser from the rival clan and the Scorpion. They both fired a volley of missiles. The Cruiser was already badly damaged and the Scorpion was still faring pretty well. Still, the corvette was no match for the cruiser…but somehow the smaller corvette managed to defeat the cruiser. The captain of the corvette fired all the guns at the incoming missiles and when their volley reached the cruiser…the explosion rocked the stations 12 kilometers away. Some even said that a few people were flash blinded if you can believe that. Now, this is where it gets vague. Somehow, one of the missiles from the cruiser managed to get through the cannon fire and hit the corvette…not enough to damage it really…but enough to hurt. Must have been a Silkworm or perhaps a Wasp missile that the cruiser fired. Either way, the Scorpion began listing a little. They engaged the jump drive, and there were tiny explosions all over the outside of the ship…but when the Scorpion made the jump…it didn’t look like a normal jump. It looked more as if it was being pulled into a black hole. Almost like the Scorpion was fighting to keep from entering jump space.
No one’s seen it since. Communications from the fighters and transmissions picked up from the stations said they were headed to New Income for a refit and then on to Black Hole Sun…but the Scorpion never made it there. People like you came through here through the years…and many Teladi scavengers. No one has ever found the corvette. Bet the items onboard would fetch a good price though. There was one item though. The Boron called it Stealth Skin. Worked like a cloaking device...or probably their idea of a cloaking device. Hi-tech, doubt if anyone could duplicate it though. Many pirates have tried…that’s how they ended up becoming corpsicles.
I had a play looking for it like every other seeker out there. That ship doesn’t want to be found…and if it was…well…you’d know about it. These blokes here can’t keep their business to themselves…then again…a smart individual would keep it secret. Every scavenger in the universe would be looking for ‘em. Would most likely try and liberate the Scorpion for themselves."
Well...I hope you all liked it. I'm working on the chapters next. Trying to salvage what I can from the pieces of what I can use.
Like I said..its only the prologue...which turned out to be the tale of the Scorpion...but thats not the story though heheh...thats a little more exciting...I think.
Let me know what you think of this though. I have two versions of this prologue...one is the story told...and the other is more like a narration.
I have to get the other one put together first before I post it...so let me know if you like this one.
Cheers

The (/\)archild Chronicals...I think its a prologue
