Hey All,
I was wondering if it would be possible to sticky a noob 'how to install/use a Script' with a few links to the most common used, example, I wish to use the Scrip telling ships only to trade with my own stations but cannot find it and even if I did not sure how to use it.
I have made the effort to look through the posts and the instructions at the top of this modding page but I am still in the dark (brain went hard years ago)
I have played X2 un modified for 4 months but have decided to start again with a few Scrips to help Micro Management.
Thank you!
Chris

what, like this one? http://www.egosoft.com/x2/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17965
how to use a script varies between scripts; many scriptwriters then post an explanation thread here which you can find using the Search function, as well as including a readme file in the download that explains all over again how to install them - they all install the same way though.
search for "Get Ware" for the script your after, and don't forget you can just go into your station control panel and tell them each not to trade with the other races

Yes I too have had major problems working out what is out there and how to install these scripts but after a bit of pain I can tell you the following:
The 2 main script mods that people seem to use (and sometimes in conjunction with each other) are:
1. Massive War Mod (or MWM as everyone seems to call it) - this adds heaps new sectors, new BBS stuff and creates an environment where some races go to war with one another (e.g. the Split might end up asking you to help with their war against the Teladi)
2. XAIcorp 1.55d which improves the dumb AI combat. As far as I can tell it seems to improve the enemy ships defensive maneouverability as well as bolster their firepower and accuracy. It also has nice extras such as displaying the number of kills each ship has as well as AI software you can purchase at stations (Terracorp HQ) for your other ships you don't fly, so that their combat ability is better.
Okay so how do you install them? Well, from what I can gather this is what you do:
1. Download and unzip the files - stick them anywhere for the time being
2. In the downloaded files, there will be a "t" folder which may contain 1 or 2 files. Copy these files into your original X2 "t" folder
3. In the downloaded files, there will be a "script" folder which will contain many files (maybe 10-20). Copy all of these into your original X2 "script" folder. The result will be a mixture of the original X2 script files and the new mod script files. I think for 1 of the files I copied in, an original file had the same name but its okay to say yes copy over original file.
4. start game, load your last saved position, leave the station and fly into space. Type in "Thereshallbewings" with a capital "T". then hit control-c and s (or control-s and c - not sure which order) which should bring you to the script menu
5. select "reinit script caches" and hit enter and "r".
6. escape out of this until your are back in the cockpit again, fly back to a station, save the game and quit out of everything.
7. reload the game from your desktop, load the game you just saved and the mod should all be up and running.
Good luck - I needed it.
