I thought this would happen and it has, James has already been taken on this so James is now known as James*

You don't have a community account, do you?
If you had an account for DevNet or simply signed up for newsletters you do have an account - if that account name was James, it's yours :)

I joined DevNet with this one (James*) because of someone taking James ages ago and he never posted anyway and I guess he won't here. There isn't a chance of been able to deactivate that username is there?

Got that too when I tried to register. " Username already in use " :o *no that can't be.
