Weapons of War, Tools of the Trade

Post by Damar Stiehl »

Got a little self-made mod that takes care of some annoyances, should I post it?

Weapons of War, Tools of the Trade

Changes to Lasers

- Increased the speed of laser pulses fired by IRE, PAC, HEPT and PPC. These pulses now travel at the uniform speed of 400000.

- Increased the speed of PSG shockwaves to 150000.

- Increased the speed of Mass Driver bullets to 300000.

- Increased the ranges of all weapons by about 25%. Further increased the range of PPCs.

- Beefed up damage dealt by weapons considered a "waste of space" (PPCs, PACs, Alpha HEPT). Improved Gamma-tier weapons slightly to make them more appealing in comparison to Beta-tier weapons.

- Beefed up Mass Drivers to do 60 points of hull damage per shot - now they are good for more than putting itty bitty dents into your opponent's hull.

- Changed PSGs damage output to better correspond to energy drain.

Changes to Missiles

- All non-Khaak missiles fly about 3x as fast as before and have significantly increased damage output. Now there's an actual reason to worry when you hear "Alert: Missile Closing".

Changes to Ships

- Improved the Dragon a bit. Forward mount now accepts two guns; cargo space expanded to 1000 maximum; two shields can be mounted instead of just one; turning speed can be upgraded to 24.

- Osprey top speed upgraded to 213 - it's still the slowest M6 but not as painfully slow that you start to gnaw your own leg waiting for it to traverse a sector.

- Centaur top speed upgraded to 230.

- Teladi Vulture can now carry minimum of 2000 cargo and maximum of 2500. It seemed odd to me that the ABSOLUTE BEST TS was produced by the Boron and not by the race that is all about profitsss.

Now please tell me, should I bother posting this?

Just as a sanity saver it may make sense to hold off until 1.4 is out. Otherwise you may have people trying to rush you to 'patch' your mod up to 1.4 after it's released.
I have something similar to this waiting in the wings . . .
"Nature's first green is gold" . . . stay golden.
