I've been fiddling with the TShips.txt, and I can't work out whereabouts a ship is designated "playable"... I only decompressed 04.cat/dat from 1.3, but none of the TWare?.txt files had ships in, so it can't be in them
all I want is an AP Gunner to pet and stroke and call my own; I've even planned to revise its specs downwards to make it more playable - can this be done?

think maybe you want to read my post, as opposed to make assumptions? 
for clarification, I said I looked in tships and there's nothing there, and I also looked in tware? (because ships, being buyable, are theoretically a kind of ware, yes?) and there's nothing there either, so now I don't know which file to look at next

You could try to replace the AP Gunner's ship ID (cut file number) in the TShip files with one of the existing M6 ships. This should at least give you a M6 ship with AP Gunner's look. The AP Gunner's model normally only shows in cut scenes.
Or convert one of the existing M6 spawning scripts with the AP Gunner's ID number.
But why would you want to cruise in a ship that shows damage on it?
