Just a thought, but I think it should be doable. A station placed someware in dark corner of some pirate sector, where you can tune up your already maxed ship. No every ship but maybe just M3 fighters, maybe M6 corvets too. For huge amount of cash you can "replace" engins, power generator, add gun mountings (to 4 max), enhance weapon types that can be mounted, add shild slots. Simply, if you can afford it you can have your dreamed-killing-machine. I think it could nicely integrate into normal non-cheating game.

What do you think about it? :D

not doable (at least most of it)
i think you can add more engine/rudder tunings than the max number via scripting, but weapon/shield slots can't be altered in game.
ship parameters and weapon loadouts are fixed once the game is loaded.
