X-BTF and X-Tension on WinXP Pro

Post by mojo99 »

Just reformatted my HDD and installed WinXP. Not played either game since. Are there any issues involved that people have noticed.

Thanks for any help.

Paul Knibbs (PJKnibbs) is probably the man you want to speak to. He's pretty good at Xp stuff.

The only issue I've encountered personally is slow keyboard response (e.g. you press a key and a second or two later the game reacts to it), which can be fixed by either running the game in Windows 98 compatibility mode or by supplying the -lowpri switch on the command line. Other people have reported problems which are solved using the -nofastmem switch on the command line. If those two switches don't get the game running I'm not sure what will...

Thanks to both of you.

pjknibbs - can you explain a little more about these command line options (i.e where do I use them?).

Sorry to be such a dunce.

You find the shortcut you use to launch X-Tension (whether it's in the Start menu or somewhere else) and right-click it. In the "Target" box you'll see something like

C:\weird path with loads of characters\X-Tension.exe

You simply add the command line switches after the name of the EXE, so it becomes

C:\weird path with loads of characters\X-Tension.exe -lowpri -nofastmem

You're welcome.

Off hand no.

Try it is my advice. :P

I believe it pertains to graphical tweaks in game. Not being on my PC at the moment I can't check.
