Mobile HQs/Motherships
I think M1 are useless.Totally.
I really would love to have something to look forward to,after i have an M2.
M1 are a waste of Money.
TLs are very usefull but not very stile-ish for a filthy Rich Admiral as HQ.
So i was thinking if it is possible to change M1 into real Flagships.
18,or at least 12 Guns, same Hangars and Station carring ability.
I know someone named Shadowtech did a similar Thing and addet his FLagships to buy into the Game.
But i think it would be cool to leave the normal M1 as they are,but add a Flagship Class to all 5 Races to buy at their Shipyards for 150 or so Millions.
Is this possible? Changing the M1 into Flagships, and adding them to all of the 5 Races Shipyards to buy without deleting the normal M1s?
If not,M1s have to go..dont think anyone uses them as something different then a Motivation Goal or Status Symbol.
Im really a noob with Scripting and Modding so this is more of an Idea for the talented People.
I feel it would add alot of motivation and longlivety to the Game that for me,at least, becomes a bit boring after having one or more M2s.
I also feel that real Flagships are badly missing in this Game.
An ultimate Goal for every Businessman and amateur Admiral, something really usefull and expansive, but not all too powerfull.
I know it has been done by Shadowtech and maybe others with the Argon Collosus and the Split Raptor.
Is anyone willing to do this with all 5 M1?
It really would spice up the Game, not only for me i think.
If not,is anyone willing to tell me how to do it with the Teladi M1?
I feel this would make the best Flagship-class,as it is very slow, but has the highest Shielding,a reasonable Hangar and looks as if it would be able to carry Stations and alot of Cargo.
Iam thinking of something like 1 or 2 more Shields then the normal M1s,12 or even the M2´s 18 Guns,16000 or so Cargo Bay,100 or so Hangar and beeing able to Carry Stations and of course very expansive. At least 150 Million Credits.
I dont think it would be too cheap,it would make Sense to have Flagships/Mobile HQs in X2 as long as it doesnt have uber Weapons.

It be posible but Im not sure if there is enough room in the tship file for 5 new ships.
Flagship Class you refer too is more like a M0 class.
Steps to make M0 class ship avalible in the game have been atempted but the only way to add ships is to replace ships already in the Tship file you cant add more (I know I tried with disaster)
Replacing shipd like the Xenon H and I and the XS are about the only way to get new ships into the game. (hint to egosoft!!!!)
I agree that the M1s on there own are a bit uderpowered (after all they are the current flagships of all the races) BUT! there true strength lays in there carrier capacity. There ability to carry 80+ M3s makes them far more leathal than any M2. As your enemys dont just have 1 target they have many! (too bad that to many target slow the game down to much)

"I don't want much, just everything..."

if you make the M1 have the weapon power of an M2, what's the use of an M2? if you give it the station-carrying capability of a TL, what's the point of a TL?
as has been said, the M0 is closest to what you're describing... and I reckon they've been left out for better balance. buy and run a fleet of ships, that's what a true admiral would aspire to - by all means pick a decent flagship, but don't forget that all the ships have their place (although I think M4s are the most pointless ships in the game)

I did something like this in my Heimat-mod. After completing the missions you get a Split Prototype which can carry stations, 150 Hangar and nice weps also. Of course you canot buy it, you only get this one. And it`s not equipped, so better save some money ;)
You get the Xenon M0 as a mobile HQ also. Has no weps, but can carry alot of shields and can hold much cargo so all your stuff fits in there.

At the later stage of the Game i dont want to change Ships all the time for everything.
You will still need a TL first as its much cheaper.
You will still probably buy a M2 first as its much cheaper.
The Flagship should be a motivation thing and Goal for the later Stage of the Game.
Personally iam getting bored after i got one or more M2s or the first M1.
But a true Flagship is missing in the Game as the M1 is useless.
Yes the M1 is deadly if it can launch all its Fighters but it makes the Game almost unplayable and only one docking Bay is rediculous..takes forever.

I don't have an M1 or even an M2 for that matter, so if you want, take my thoughts with a grain of salt.
From discussions I have read here, it seems like the best thing to make an M1 more feasable is for it to be able to launch ships faster. I've read that TL's can launch ships at a fast rate. If the M1 could do that then it would be perfect.
As for a ship that does everything. Why? It makes the other ships obsolete. Even the modern Admiral sits on his aircraft carrier surrounded by his destroyers. It's not about having the end all be all of ships. It's about each ship filling a particular role in the fleet.
Take one M1 two M2's and a small wing of M6's and you have an awsome fleet.
It would be nice if the game could handle a large number of ships on screen without slowing down. I didn't have any problem with the last mission and the number of ships on the map. But I've never tried to launch 80+ ships from a M1 either.

Hi,
Just to let you know.
M1's aren't totally useless. You can use "marks formation and patrol commands v4" to create fighter wings that live on your carrier.
All you have to do is give orders to the formation leader and the wingmen youve assigned to him wil do the same.
There's even as re-supply fighter wing command to re-supply an entire formation with missiles (or anything else) in seconds.
And for capital ship busting you get a 'fighter wing bombing run command' that can be devestating when the fighter wing is a load of m3's with hornets and the target is an enemy m1/m2 class ship.
You also get some pretty handy patrol commands.
You can get them at x2 source, just click on the immage below, go to downloads, and have a look in the ships section .
Go on, I dare you not to have some serious fun......
