Scrap collection priorities?

Hey all,

Scrap collection priorities, I don't think the game really cares about how much value an individual wreck offers. I.e. a seemingly random bit of scrap will be the next one to be collected. There's no priority based on scrap value. For example, for whatever reason, several of my Manticores are obsessed with collecting Laser Tower wrecks. They're a whopping 10 scrap value each. Wow. At the same time, 1,000 value scrap cubes are being ignored as are even higher value wrecks. It could just be entirely random and I'm on a bit of a low-value streak. However, should scrap value be considered and used to prioritise what's collected next?

When pickings are light, sure, snag what you can. However, when picking are rich, go for higher-value items first... before someone else snags them or they expire. Should scrap value be considered alongside distance to the wreck? I.e. for a "quick win" and keeping the station running a lesser wreck that's really close could be prioritised. I don't know if the game considers proximity at all currently, though I've seen my Manticores travel three sectors and return with a Laser Tower, when there are several Corvette (over 1,00 value) wrecks in the Station's own sector...

What do people think?

Note: I'm not really a fan these days of the "Closed Loop" economy, where so many things can be created from Scrap. It seems very low-effort. However, I do use scrapping for Claytronics and Hull Parts used in station building. Currently, I have several scrapping operations, some helping to feed my own basic Station Module construction, as well as some for ship production. However, I also produce ALL the other needed items for the regular "Universal" build method. My Scrapping operations can also assist allied faction station construction of course, and my logistics and Warehouse stations help further, extending my supply lines.
