Suggestion: Allow us to add "Deposit Inventory" command to repeat orders even when pilot has no inventory
I like to add repeat orders to collect drops. But it is a bit of a pain to set up, because I have to wait until the pilot collects at least one item before I can add the "Deposit inventory" order. I'd like to be able to add that order right from the start, even before any inventory is collected.

I think I have asked for this at some point, for exactly the same reason. It's a flaw of repeat orders IMO. Similarly I don't think you can set up buy/sell if they aren't available in the system at that moment, which is grating if you're specifically trying to set up something ahead of time (in my case it was a long-distance supply chain for building Terran stations). I don't get why it needs to be reactive only. This creates a backlog of things I need to finish setting up later.

Oh, this'd be sooo nice. I've suggested it myself in the past. A simple collect in area / deposit "loop" would be great. The same for regular stuff too, allowing collection of cargo and have it automatically off-loaded at a player station of choice. I do this manually, looting dropped cargo from ships, adding it to my hoard of wares for future building. It's a bit tiresome though.

Indeed, that's a general problem. You can't create a repeat order unless the corresponding direct order is also possible. One notable exception is "Deliver Salvage" for tugs, you can create the repeat order even though it's currently not towing a wreck.

I too am often frustrated that my "scavengers" (repeat order collect drops near Xenon gates) need two-stage setup.
(Especially when one needs replacing after it is destroyed)
My other concern is that the repeat-order selection would become too unwieldy if all options are always available (I think "some contextual plus some always-available" would be a weird, unpredictable patchwork UI mess).
I wonder how a contextual-based-on-other-repeating-orders would work, and if it's technically feasible.
So: if you add a "collect drops" order, the "deposit inventory" unlocks.
If you add a "buy X" order, the "sell X" unlocks, etc...
