Hello everyone,
I was wondering what is the logic behind the 20x20x20 km MAX building size. Why can't it be bigger? I am sitting on 20bil credits in this seed and still have to limit on how I build my stations. Can we have build volume size increase, please?
I understand building in a faction-owned sector, but if I own the sector myself, why not? and I am speaking vanilla here, no mods or scripts. I like the game how it is. I have 1.6k hours in this game and would like some QOL improvements.

Games can't handle infinite polygons. Because to render infinite polygons, you'll need infinite time. So they employ simplifications and optimization and impose limits. In case of stations, at some point it makes sense to treat a station as an object that can be culled and not rendered. Egosoft chose 20 km as "good enough" practical limit on station size.Savory_scenario wrote: ↑Sun, 1. Jun 25, 03:36 I was wondering what is the logic behind the 20x20x20 km MAX building size. Default build cube is already humongous. You can fit entire GTA 5 into it several times if you just lay it flat. And you can absolutely kill the framerate if you fill it with modules. It is much bigger than what you'd practically need most of the time.

thanks for the reply,
And that is fine in that case, however can we trade one axys of the cube for another one, as an example if I don't like building in the z-axys, can we use that space to build in x-axys and y-axys? in other words, instead of having 20x20x20km cube, can it be 2x29x29km? we would still have the same amount of space.

Maximum volume instead of maximum dimensions? I see the logic but you'd have to ask the devs. The volume is very very large as is.Savory_scenario wrote: ↑Sun, 1. Jun 25, 18:26 thanks for the reply,

One module is bit over 400 m. I once did put into 20 km * 20 km one layer of cross connectors. That is some 48*48 modules, 2300. My machine refused to copy that "sequence". Probably good as such "Borg" cube in 20*20*20 ㎦ could fit 110k modules. (Less of actual productive modules, but still a lot.)

A small connector is exactly 400 m. Same goes for small docks. At some point I was bored enough to measure it. So it'll be 50x50x50 connector modules. Though you probably won't fit the very last one, as it requires hair's width precision.jlehtone wrote: ↑Sun, 1. Jun 25, 21:50 One module is bit over 400 m.
