The map is set at the zoom level, so it glitches everytime you open the map. If the zoomlevel gets saved that is...
I think it glitched in 7.60 RC1 also, but I can't recall if it did it earlier.

Changed filehost. I Never noticed any ads or registration requests earlier. But I'm using noscript.

Reason: Adding DUP to the title, and the Mantis report number.

Please link a current DxDiag so that we can check your system and drivers etc.

@ devs: That looks like this issue which was reported and discussed in the 7.60 beta under [#3876].

EDIT: Thanks for the file uploads but I'm not any time soon going to sit again through artificially slowed downloads whilst being bombarded with adverts and registration requests.

From your DxDiag, your onboard Intel graphics could have its driver updated so that its Vulkan aligns with the much newer Nvidia driver (yes, that is needed for some reason).

Your Nvidia driver is showing many unknowns in the DxDiag, such as current mode, etc which makes me wonder slightly about it's setting up.

You seem to be having a lot of issues with KillerProviderDataHelperService.exe.

I hope something here helps.

Thanks I'll look into updating the intel graphics driver, I dunno about the NVIDIA driver I just use the Nvidia App to update when a new driver is released. But I suppose I could uninstall the driver and clean it with DDU and see if that fixes it, or I'll just reroll to a previous version and maybe that helps. The killer thing I think is the Intel® Killer™ Performance Suite and killer Control.

Just want to add that this issue has been reported on multiple posts in steam and reddit, and does not occur in 7.50. I really hope this gets addressed because it was reported in BETA at least 2/3 updates before 7.60 was released. Now that it's been reported here, steam, and on reddit I hope this will be resolved. I don't believe it's related to hardware or drivers because it seems to occur on multiple hardware types and operating systems. Everything so far seems to indicate this is a bug in the new "optimizations" made for VRAM. Probably a shader issue.

As reported here: viewtopic.php?t=471026, for me it is occuring since 7.60 Beta 5. It is happening in almost every playing session since then, pretty annoying.

For completeness, there is also this thread viewtopic.php?t=471375, another user with the same issue.

[Bug] [v7.6 - 562021] Map graphical artifacts

Post by chibiphoenix »

Hi there!

So, I think I managed to get a save where this happens consistently (at least on my end).
https://drive.google.com/file/d/11G3TiZ ... sp=sharing

Upon loading - DO NOT MOVE.
Open the map, zoom out all the way (note: it might take a few tries opening/closing the map and adjusting zoom levels).

I strongly suspect it's caused by reflections, as the graphic glitches appear roughly where the light reflection is on the metallic beam of the ship I am standing in.

Is the issue similar to that in this recent thread and the onward linked threads in there?

I have the same issue, although it only occurs for me after playing for a couple of hours. When I open map I get weird effects but if I zoom in and out it usually goes away.

Please provide a full DXDiag and vulkaninfo, as requested at the top of the forum. "Me too" posts without this do not contribute anything to attempts to reproduce or solve the problem.

As a follow up to my earlier message, I somehow managed to find a way to reproduce the glitch once it occurs. First, the state the game was in. The play session was rather long, about 8 hours, and my VRAM well used (though I identified some weirdness with the in-game counter, more about it later). The game was paused and I was piloting one fighter, with an active request for guidance from one of my ships being harassed by a pirate. I found (by pure chance) that going into the build menu of a shipyard then exiting would make the artifacts show up. Said glitches disappear as soon as the map geometry changes (zoom or tilting). Even though the video doesn't show it well, the glitches would appear regardless of the state of the map (initially tilted or not). But it tends to be easier for the issue the visualize when the map is properly flat.

After playing with the map a while, and resolving the pirate problem, I went back to the map to see that the glitches were now permanent. Permanent until I restarted the game, that is. Thus it appears that the glitches is dependent on a specific game state.

More over, I noticed weird flashing whenever I clicked on the "cancel" button from the shipyard build screen. I managed to isolate the specific trame right after a click. Probably unrelated, but hey, I don't even know what to look for.

During that play session, I noticed that the in-game VRAM counter showed a higher usage than it is possible on my machine. My GPU has 8G of ram, the in-game counter showed a VRAM usage of 7900MB / 8120MB (or something similar). This prompted me to look at the actual usage using radeontop and nvtop. Turns out the game effectively used 400MB less, sitting at about 7600MB. I know we're not supposed to conflate problems, but it may be a hint at the underlying issue.

PS: I don't know where to post more information when there are multiple (merged) topics on the same subject. I assume all of them are being tracked?

@ xrogaan: If they are merged then they are all the same thread now. If they are not merged but have the same # tracking number in the title (and maybe [DUP] too) then all the useful evidence such as saves etc was backed up by the devs on their system *at the time of* the tracking number being added to the thread. This is because some posted links have an expiry date. Posts made in them since the tracking number was added might or might not be actively monitored by the relevant devs depending upon their current work topic, need for more evidence, and personal approaches but they would *most likely* look over all the same numbered threads again when they eventually start to investigate that issue. I hope this assessment helps.

I wanted to confirm that I experienced exactly the same issues as OP when I opened my map during last game session.
Graphics glitches are identical to the glitches from the screenshots.
The glitches started after prolonged game time, most of the sectors discovered and covered with advanced satellites.
Glitches can be 'turned off' when 'Other' filter view is disabled. But it is a game restart what fixes the glitches.
I also noticed very high VRAM (80-90%) usage when glitches appear.

My system: I7 6700k, GTX 1070, 32 GB RAM, 1440p resolution. Fresh start, 7.60 vanilla, no mods, all DLCs.

Again, please provide a DXDiag. A brief list of system components does not give us enough information to do anything useful.
