I'm currently playing with just the base game. Antigone took Getsu fune. They only built one defense station. I built a large defense complex at the gate to savage spur in preparation of turning on Cradle of Humanity.
So I thought to myself, I sure would like to own Getsu Fune. So I build four cheap behemoth vanguard. They had all plasma turrets. I took the pilots off and parked them around the admin center for the antigone defense station. I sold them to HOP and watched the show.
HOP paid me nearly 9M for each ship and then the ships took out the defense station. Now I own Getsu Fune.
Only one behemoth survived to limp back to HOP space.

Re: Cheap alternative to asgard
I prefer an even cheaper alternative for eliminating admin modules - a single Nemesis Vanguard fitted with 4 torpedo tubes, all modded with Cowboy to improve reload rates. I park at just under 12km from the station & launch just enough torpedo salvoes to eliminate admin (8 salvoes is sufficient for most, Terrans need 1 more). With this setup the final salvo is launched before the first hits the target, which means I can fly a considerable distance away from the station before the explosions start.

Other alternative is if you already have ship building modules in your HQ, teleport it to the sector of interest, then setup it to only shell ships to enemies of the owner of the sector. The havoc is assured.

How in the blazes have I never thought of just parking a fleet around a defense station and then selling them to a warring faction. Excuse me for a moment, I need to get my shipyard going to change the maps a wee bit ...
I assumed they always just beeline it straight to the yard/wharf they've been sold to for disassembly. Or is this the point of selling them without a captain so they just sit there without anyone flying the ship and just the turrets doing their thing?

One Behemoth. You as pilot. Shoot the Admin module and leave. Mission complete.thedavid wrote: ↑Fri, 9. May 25, 05:04 So I thought to myself, I sure would like to own Getsu Fune. It seems some of you are missing the fact that the OP gets no hit to faction rep by letting HOP do the dirty deed.

That much was obvious. Personally though I don't like delaying my mayhem to the point where I can afford to buy single use destroyers, let alone the high purchase cost of L fab blueprints in order to build my own. For me rep is very much 'easy come, easy go'. As long as I've still got sufficient rep after whatever I'm planning to do that my ships can still dock I simply don't care about the rep hit. As long as I don't drop below -9 I can get it back easily enough by doing missions, trading with the faction, etc. Blowing up a single unarmed module has a comparatively low rep cost.

I might be wrong here and things have changed but in the past when I tried something like this, the ship buying faction immediately allocates a captain and the ships will fly off for recycling. But they do start firing and in the time it takes for them to turn around and leave weapons range, they might blow something up.Feloidea wrote: ↑Sat, 10. If you want them to hang around for longer destroy their engines before selling.H34Dru5H wrote: ↑Sun, 11.
