Alert sound issue while in the map – Bug or new setting?

Hey everyone,

I've noticed that when an alert is triggered while in the map, the sound doesn't play. However, if an alert is triggered outside of the map and the notification appears, the sound plays as expected.

Is this a known issue, or could there be a new setting affecting this behavior? I'd appreciate any insights or confirmation.

Mini window messages (left bottomo corner) aren't rolling while you have map open. When you close the map it will then show whole backlog what was gathered during you had map open.
Messages won't even run if the game is paused so it's not possible "clear" backlog by closing the map and pausing the game.

Only video messages / alerts will come through while map is open.

I already knew that. However, in previous versions, the alert sound would play even when you were on the map or in another menu. It doesn't make sense for the alert to be silent in those situations, especially in a game where many players spend most of their time on the map.

I'm fairly sure in 7.50 version alert doesn't even happen while you're on the map and is instead buffered, meaning it appears only when you close the map. And yes, it is annoying.

For me, alerts and other notifications do not appear when I close the map, even though they are recorded in the logbook. Is this a feature that needs to be manually enabled?

I distinctly remember that alert sounds and notifications played even while the map was open. There was one particular sound that made me especially paranoid :lol: , as it was the same used for war updates and ships destroyed.

Since alerts used to play while the map was open in previous versions, their absence now seems more like a bug.

Map behavior changed din 7.50. In my experience, now map patiently waits for you to close it without displaying any alerts. The only difference happens if you have "notify me" set in global orders. Video call from subordinate comes through.

Feel free to report this as a bug, as I'm not a fan of this either...

While it seems a wise suggestion, many ppl play on a map most of their gameplay. So yeah, the game would just stop for them :) But for ppl like me, it's fine solution.

Undoubtedly. Some alerts manifest as icons on the map or property list. A better solution is the availability of alerts on the map, and the best - a configurable alert system with extensive filters.

This game is sold on the premise that "Choose your own path at your own pace. The decisions are yours." I spend a lot of time on the map "managing my vast empire, commanding my fleets, and designing colossal space stations." Pausing the game while on the map is counterproductive for me — this will pause my profitsssssss.

Ideally, the developers should at least provide an option for players to choose whether to receive notifications while on the map. Alternatively, they could revert to the previous system, where notifications were audible even while on the map. I prefer the first option because it pleases everyone.
