This may well be a difficult (or impossible) ask in terms of coding, but it would be nice to be able to customize the out-of-the-box starting scenarios. For example, choosing "The Accomplished Scientist" but changing the character to a Terran and the HQ location to Saturn I, or starting "Stranded" with a Teladi.
I imagine the biggest difference between this and a custom start would be the beginning story state (e.g. most starts have some custom introductory content that other starts don't see) but it would also be more convenient than recreating everything in a custom start — for example, if you want to start with the "correct" faction standings for a FRF Split but don't happen to remember offhand what those standings are.

So you are asking for additional options in the story states tab to add custom game start plots.
The problem here is that the custom plots likely rely on specific start conditions, like starting sector. Know information, etc. I suppose what you could do is having select game start plot lock the requirements in the other tabs; In particular, the starting sector or location, plus anything else needed for the plot to run.
As for accomplished scientist, can't you do this already? Set the HQ as 'there with Bosoo Ta'. Set the known sectors as those Dr Terren would know, etc. The point here that the accomplished scientist does not have a starting plot; it has its starting plots already finished.

Depends on whether they want the starting plots. But if you don't care for those, then having presets for them would be helpful.
