[Suggestion] Budgetted Start Improvements

Hi!

After having nearly completed (in my opinion), my first X4 run, I was starting to hunt achievements. I really enjoy the 'default' starts you can select! They add a fun little intro mission etc.
So, having most completed now, I decided to start up a budgetted start! Which is a very nice feature btw!

However, I feel it could use with a couple extra options:
- More player character models (nothing crazy, don't worry)
What I mean is, to be able to change the head & body. Just like how the NPC's are created (so, instead of only being able to pick the generic Teladi, you could pick the head with the cool goggles + the longcoat body).

The option to select one of the starting plots to begin your journey. Obviously, not all begin plots would work that way, but I think there are a quite a few that are generic enough to use in this way.
I do feel it'd be completely fair to disable any plot related achievements if you were to start such a plot through budgetted though (otherwise, Queen's Herald would be super easy for example).
I think this would work well for quite a few of them:
- Kingdom's End Emergence
- Smuggler & Paradise (the Avarice starts)
- The one with the lady scientist (PIO start; but then without her pondering, just start on the station with the scientist telling you what to do)
Or maybe unlock them in budgetted by having played them at least once.

I concur with your suggestions. I like budget game start but I do also think we could have more options for how the player looks. I'd enjoy playing as a Terran more if I could wear pants and a jacket instead of a one piece jumpsuit. Also, Terran shoes just seem wrong with that jumpsuit. The shoes match much better with the pants and jacket.

As for the plots, it would really be nice to do a budget game start and then get the HQ through the Segaris plot instead of the anomaly mission or the Heretics End pop in. I asked for this but it wasn't well received.

It seems to be the idea that the various game starts are for role play color, lore dumps, and tutorial. If you're past that then you can just set the HQ to finished and then also have the ability to set all research to finished and place the HQ wherever you like on the map.

Whenever I have to start over I agonize over using budget to just clear out stuff or really going all the way back to only having 10,000 credits and an Elite.

Be careful setting story states to finished though. Some of the story states give you the ship you would have earned doing the story and some do not. It is my understanding that the Hydra Regal is a unique ship and it is lost forever if you set the Boron story to completed. You have to play though the entire story again from the beginning if you want that ship.

That'd be even sweeter!

I meant, to be able to just pick an existing body and head.
Thay way, it's relatively easy to add (no need for an artist, as the NPCs are already generated this way).

Just be able to pick, eg:
Race: Argon
Heads: all the argon legible heads
Body: all the argon bodies
With an arrow to cycle through them.

It could also allowed modders a bit of freedom.
But from Egosofts side, I'd just like a bit more freedom in that regard :)
