Sharing My Anti-Vig Strategy, Please share yours too

Post by RyanHeart »

Okey, as a vig swarm enjoyer and rage-quitter :D

This is my Solution, https://imgur.com/a/OZiyvKj an admin center 3 argon bridge L Plasma M Flak 1 Argon Disc L Beam M Flak, 60 Repair 10 Cargo 25 Defense Drones and a scanning array :) 2 of them at Choke points (6 station in total)(Blockading Windfall Entirely)(All turrets are on "shot missiles first", also some fleet's to catch barborossa's so i can board them (I am curious how many i can board simultaneously :).

Edit: Adding possible way to counter Xenon H with max Defence Drones, very cheap hard counter, although use "escort" option so all can be launched immediatly, fight bs with bs quantity vs quantity :D

I can easily say, if you want to take over windfall like me, building stations is the best i didn't lose more han %1 hullpoints on any of stations, yet vig swarm is wiped out, stations vs fighters are crazy.

I did a similar thing, blocked the exits out of VIG space with defence platforms and then sent in the fleets.

Fleet of 3 x Asgard, with beams on all turrets.
Advance slowly into VIG sectors so you dont attract too many swarms of fighters all at once.
Most importantly (for me anyway), dont be in sector yourself, control it remotely via the map.

Not doing anything to VIG currently. They're actually being quite useful in the war currently being waged between HOP & TEL/MIN (I'm on HOP's side). Some of VIG's forces in Eighteen Billion are fighting with MIN ships, which might otherwise be heading to the front line in Grand Exchange III, so for the moment I'm leaving them alone.

Should that usefulness cease however I'll be heading in with a fleet to relieve them of their sectors. Hopefully HOP will be happy to claim them afterwards, so long term policing will be something I can delegate to them. Know from previous experience (gained fighting the TOA plot final battle in a previous game) what sort of fleet I would need to remove VIG control from those sectors. Somewhere around 10 destroyers, 40 S interceptors & 10 L.Smart missile frigates should be sufficient, along with enough carriers to transport/rearm all the S/M ships (current game is Paranid & Zeus has a smaller capacity than the carrier I used last time, so may need more than one). Although, on reflection, I suppose that given I am playing as a Paranid all those numbers should really be multiples of 3. :paranid:

For the moment though HOP are rather busy with their current warmongering in Grand Exchange & Hatikvah's. Don't want to add an additional burden, so VIG can wait for the moment - they don't bother me, so I don't bother them.

In my games, they are more akin to rabid dog than a police :D, literally destroying silent wittness 1 and 18 billion, i had to stop them. Also windfall is a very good base location i think

So that's working, only oos i presume, otherwise i don't think even asgard can't take like 50 torpedoes no ?

I always see this mentioned, and its odd because my strategy was simple.
1 well built Asgard, and the Q button.
I had a single Asgard, with L bolt and M beam, green equipment mods like slasher or rotation speed for the L bolts and recharge rate shield mod. I literally just held down Q rolling the ship. They launched their missiles etc, but only once or twice did things get hairy and all I had to do was re-orient the ship to not lose components. The swarm got whittled down to nothing.

Im not sure if I had such an easy time because of some peculiarities of the patch I did it on or because of something else, but yeh, 1 ship. I admit that I think I had to reload once because my engine got destroyed, but then I just re-oriented the ship for that to not happen.

Either that or you just got lucky with the engagements.

When I did it, the one ship approach certainly would not have worked. In my experience L+ ships really struggle if unaccompanied in high attention. Granted I did so pre-6.20 which has this in the changelog, so perhaps the encounter is nerfed to the point where it's viable? Hope that isn't the case for the sake of future playthroughs. :gruebel:

Hi,

Another possibility is - get friendly with VIG, get friendly with Yaki and buy all Yaki blueprints.
Then build a Wharf in Windfall I to have it cleaned up with lots of storage and many wharf-modules.
And from time to time when enough resources are available allow Yaki to buy (tons of) ships there for a while....and have 10 fast S-ships there to collect the loot :)

Only small caveat i saw - looks like the Yaki are going constantly straight in one direction after undocking....so in worst case you might need to build a 2nd wharf in Windfall III...anyway...always good to have some spare :)

Best regards
