No Yasur/Paint from online?
I can't access online features when the protected UI "feature" is on, therefore I can't retrieve my yasur or paint jobs. I use two popular UI mods that are perfectly safe and the basis for other mods to work off of. I feel like I'm missing something with this whole protected UI thing - what is the point of it? Right now it seems like it's only purpose is to make life harder for people who use UI mods. I ask the developers to reconsider this move as cutting off yasur(s) and paint is a truly pointless, obstructive exercise for people who would like to mod the game.

Protected UI Mode is there to protect you and your PC, so no, we are not going to remove it. Modders now have the facilities they need to create UI mods that work with Protected UI Mode ON, so as soon as they catch up and do that you won't have to choose between security and accessing online features.

To add to CBJ's post, I would recommend disconnecting your Internet connection if you turn Protected UI off at the wall. It's best to be safe. I'm not clear on the technical reasons, but Protected UI is like a little firewall for digital attacks masked as game input, and generally, if your firewalls are off, your Internet should be off too.
The risk of Protected UI disabled would be greatly magnified by a Ventures connection, because anyone seeking to attack the X series would try to attack Ventures so as to cause the maximum bad press for Egosoft. Asking them to risk their playerbase over a few ventures goodies is stupid, particularly since you can cheat in equivalent or better data from a cheat script.
