[FeatureRequest] Ket's Reckoning/Architect Mode

Post by vvvvvvvv »

So for the heck of it I tried to build a fleet in that sector.

Through some resource manipulation I managed to create managers for stations being built and added extra crews for discoverer, I also managed to earn money to hire one wandering NPC present on the station.

After that point I hit a wall and that was the end of it. Architect mode does not unlock consumables and ship blueprints, so even though I can create resources, shipyards do not know how to build ships.

But....

Does it have to be this way?

Why not add resources to the sector and why not unlock ship blueprints on the start. Make the sector 3x bigger, add resource blob in a corner with everything --> scrap, ores, gases. Let the player experiment with the supply chains. Won't be a difficult fix either.

It is called Architect Mode for a reason. This is not supposed to be used (or misused) as another game play start. I highly doubt Egosoft will change that.

If you need all blueprints unlocked you can do that in a creative start also.

If you're just goofing, you could add one of those mods that has a station that makes resources from nothing without the need for miners.

You could use the cheat mod to then give yourself credits and buy blueprints. There is a function in the cheat mod that allows you to remotely call up a super faction rep that has all the blueprints.

I don't use any mods so I'm not sure how exactly it works, but I read that you could do that.

But now you have me curious. If I built a scrap and recycle complex and had enough energy cells, could you get a manticore so you could scrap the discoverer. If you did scrap the discoverer, would you get enough resources from it to build the ship again? I guess the first problem is getting the manticore.

Creative Mode dose not have "Force construction" button.

The point is the mode could be expanded to serve as quick ship test arena which was requested before. And this change doesn't require any significant testing or development.

In Ket's Reckoning there's no point in scrapping the discoverer, because you can just create resources out of nothing. Simply construct a module, force construction, deconstruct, pick resources from build storage. That's how I spawne NPCs. Deconstructed boron modules to get water for the farms.

However, you can't build any ships, because the player doesn't know any ship blueprints. I tried to have a shipyard there, you see. So you won't be able to build a manticore, and if you lose the discoverer, you won't be getting it back.
