[#3682][7.50] Erlking Bridge Vanishing - Fixed

7.50 - All DLCs
No third party mods installed (ever, so there is zero possibility of any residual files either to affect the game)
Running the game via its own .exe (GOG Galaxy is not running)
System - See signature plus DXDiag / VulkanInfo linked below

Issue : Erlking Bridge vanishes as I turn/walk around the walkway which leads to the teleport.

This is reproducible from the save linked below for me.
Reported this before a few years back but its never been fixed.

Load the save.

Don't move yet, just turn to the right with the mouse, and you should see this happen https://i.imgur.com/7mUkEm7.png
Turn to the right some more, the bridge will come back briefly and the more you turn it will vanish again.

If you also walk down the walkway towards the teleport, you should see it happen a few more times.

I dont believe this to be a VRAM related issue, according to Windows Game Bar I am at 55 percent use.

This is occurring in a new game start, started two days ago, custom budgetted.
I am docked at the Pirate station in Nopileous Memorial (I think having the Erlking docked may be key to this bug) ..

The phenomenon occurs when the center of the scene is looking away from the camera and you have a certain distance to it. The bounding box is set incorrectly and makes it disappear. This has nothing to do with Vram or the operating system.

I had the problem myself recently with a landscape and some Meshes in UE5 and it helped to increase the bound scale.
I don't know what they call it in X4 or blender but it should be called something like that.

This can also cause the problem that the collision is no longer active, which makes the ship invulnerable, but also causes the player to fall through the ship.

The problem has existed since 5.0

Like an occlusion boundary?
That sounds probable, and maybe why it wasn't looked at last time reported because it needs a Blender specialist.

Yes this is most likely caused by a bounding box issue.
The docked ship must stay inside of the visible bounds of the pier.
As the pier is smaller than docked ships, i had do add a invisible geometry to enlargen this bounds.
Of course, as ships got larger, some docked ships are now outisde of these bounds, seems that this is the case for the erlking here.

Hi All

Slightly off topic, having the same issue on my Hyperion (seen it more than once as well), even reloading the game/save keeps doing it.

Below should be a link to the save game, dont share stuff much so hope this works:

As per the OP comments, the Hyperion is docked on what looks like a short pier, so even L size ships can suffer, mainly trying to get into the docking bay just vanishes, you can do it walking backwards mind.

I could not reproduce anymore, so i think this is fixed.
I can recall adjusting the pier (normal one arm one) some time ago, but probably missed closing the internal bugreport - therefore also missed notifying in this thread.
Please have a look and confirm it working in 8.00 ;)

Just downloaded the save again and tested - Not fixed.

Load up the save and dont walk anywhere, just turn around on the spot.

There are a few places on the Erlking bridge where this happens, its not just limited to that spot.

I tried to reproduce on steam with the current 8.00 build and with the internal build, in both cases i was unable to reproduce the issue.
I did load the save, did not move, but just looked around. All looking fine for me.

Could someone else try to reproduce?

I dont know if this is relevant, but I forgot to mention that the Erlking in my game was acquired from game start, in a custom budgetted game.
I cant see that making a difference as the same resources are surely loaded as they would if you acquired it normally (by boarding etcetera).

The GOG game should also have the same resource files as anyone else.

The cause of this culling is usually the pier the ship is docked at.
If there is not a setup done to enlargen the visible bounds to contain any docked ship, then the bridge might disappear.

This setup is done for this pier, therefore i am confused why you see that culling. Again i can repro on my end, therefore waiting for others to confirm or deny.

I just tried 8.00 beta 2 with the fix ..
[Beta 2] Fixed ships visually disappearing when docked at Argon 1-Dock Short Pier

Still no mods in use, and after downloading the update I did a game files verify.
And loaded the save, still have the same issue.

Can anyone else please do as Lino requested and load up my save in the first post to see if it still happens for anyone else?

Beta 2, medium graphics preset, could not reproduce the issue from the save in the OP.
