Hello everyone,
I'm new to SWI and I have a probably stupid question.
I just managed to treat myself to a Victory II.
Unfortunately, I can't fend off incoming torpedoes.
Which S-turrets are best for this? Dual ones for range, or quad ones?
I've set all S-turrets to defend against missiles first.
But somehow, the defenses fail completely.
Every torpedo fired at the ship hits, which is pretty annoying.
What experiences have you had with this, or perhaps any tips for preventing this?
thanks in advance.

Re: Star Wars Interworld Ship Defense
Turret missile defence isn't quite as good in SWI as it is in vanilla. However, it is capable of defending reasonably well against the slower-heaver missiles and torpedoes, which is still very useful.
Personally, I'll pick turrets that have both good rate of fire and a decent shot speed for anti-missile work. Any turret potentially has a chance of taking out a missile, but firing more and faster shots seems to help more than range. So, a quad turret (typically under 3km range) will often perform better in an anti-missile role than a dual turret (longer range). However, turret availability varies between factions. So, something my faction (I picked the MDW start) can fit, might not match what's available to you.
It can all be a bit overwhelming at first, I'm currently re-learning things after previously playing an older version of SWI - so a few things have changed. However, my experience thus far suggests that the shorter-ranged Quad Turrets often perform a little better for anti-missile work. This is using Turrets provided by the MDW Faction.
You can check out the SWI Wiki here it might not answer you question exactly, but contains some good stuff.

That's at least helpful as a guideline.
I'll try out the individual things.

No worries. For me, it's largely a try it and see how it works to a degree. I also captured (bailing) a few ships, so I can see how load-outs I didn't choose perform.
