It would be nice if under "Speed", "Boost Speed" an "Travel Speed", there was a derived stat, "Time to Max Speed", which would be "max speed/acceleration". And if hull drag was also visible.
After engine rebalance, it turns out acceleration makes a huge difference, but this is not immediately obvious. For example, for hyperion without mods.
Terran:
137 m/s speed, 49 m/s2 acc, to max: 2.79s.
536 m/s boost, 63 m/s2 acc, to max: 8.5s
5229 m/s travel, 132 m/s2 acc, to max: 39s.
Paranid engines:
168 m/s speed, 61 m/s2 acc, to max: 2.75s.
613 m/s boost, 101 m/s2 acc, to max: 6.06s
7635 m/s travel, 113 m/s2 acc, to max: 67s.
Teladi engines:
163 m/s speed, 59 m/s2 acc, to max: 2.76s.
434 m/s boost, 63 m/s2 acc, to max: 6.8s
6125 m/s travel, 125 m/s2 acc, to max: 49s.
Basically, there are obvious advantages for the engines, but to see those I'll need a spreadsheet. While a full graph of "distance traveled" (with/without boosting) would be an overkill, I think that it should be visible how long does a ship take to accelerate to maximum, at least.

Imo there should also be a UI setting showing all these and the others like TD times in the flight UI too.
The dream would be a fully customizable UI where you can select what you want and drag them to where it's suitable for you... Unless they managed to integrate all that in the actual ship consoles.

That last bit may be what holds such a thing up. In development, it is one thing to add additional UI elements, entirely different to allow custom locations... Something that the UI doesn't do at all yet. One thing to also note, adding such features, even just added display of stats to UI, will increase testing and debugging. They already have to test on varied screen resolutions and sizes to confirm nothing is unreadible, so it could become a support nightmareRaptor34 wrote: ↑Fri, 14. Or just let you turn it on and off.Rastuasi wrote: ↑Sun, 16. Mar 25, 17:40That last bit may be what holds such a thing up. But that aside, I'm honestly surprised there is no TD countdown. In numbers.
