Argon design divergence/convergence between XR and X4

Post by mr.WHO »

With introduction of Behemoth E and Colossus E it started to strike me that Argon ship designs looks more and more like a divergent branch of some Argon designs from X-Rebirth.

First of all, Eclipse looks like it's related to Albion Eterscel.

Argon long L freighters looks related to Omicron Lyranea.

Behemoth E and Colossus E now looks related to Omicron Fulmekron.

Not to mention Teladi shrooms.

Kinda sad we didn't got old Gangrene Chaser for Fallen Families in X4 SV :(

X4 straight up reuses a ton of XR assets, though likely with some tweaks and facelifts.

Xenon ships.
Teladi NPC models.
Hazard objects, asteroids, pillars.
Xenon stations.
Good portion of moddules (wheat, spice, meat)
XR construction vessel is very similar to Argon Mammoth.
Cargo, Repair, Build drones, Boarding pods.
Katana is VERY similar to XR although it was probably tweaked as geometry differs in detail.

That is a big error, as the X Rebirth Omicron ships are supossed to be a mix of Argón and Terran tech, birth from the cooperation of the Argons of Omicron and the Terrans thay get stuck in the sector after the gate network shutdown.

Behemot E and Osaka are suprisingly similar in general shape (much more than old Behemoth).

Yeah no. By that logic the Behe E is similar to the X2 Split... Python? Or was it the Raptor? too.

I reckon it's an international conspiracy & the Teladi are in one it too. Can it mere coincidence that the X4 Eclipse looks a bit like the X2 Osprey, from certain angles, if you've got your eyes half closed...

I always prefered the Albion PMC, Sul, Taranis and Arawn over the Omicron fork designs but I guess that's what they went with.

Separated systems did communicate through rare automated drones. Both ALI and Kingdom End sent out messengers. Still a mystery how they've got anywhere with sublight travel in the 40 or so years since the collapse but there are several loopholes like the anomalies and occasionally realigning gates that could have sped up the process.

Omicron Lyrea being a major metropolitan hub would probably also seek out Argon Prime this way. It's questionable why would they also send military secrets like blueprints on a one way drone but it's not totally unthinkable to send a quantum encrypted message only the recipient has the key for and as such the convergence issue is solved. This would also explain why you don't see any Arawns flying around which were supposed to have been designed at the end of the Terran conflict and would have to be the top capital for the Argon at this point. This way you have an explanation why there were phased out for the Omicron style designs instead.
