Auto salvage problem

I've just set up a scrap processing plant in Avarice, have given it a 5 star manager and bought 2 manticores to supply scrap.

I assigned the first one to auto salvage and off it went on its merry way (although so far, it hasn't done anything). When I try to assign the second one, however, the option for auto salvage isn't there.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

When you say the option isn't there, do you mean AutoSalvage is not in the list of default behaviours? Or it's there but AutoSalvage is greyed out?

Or, yet another option, do you mean you're assigning it to "Salvage for Commander"?

The only options there are the two "trade with" and the two "transfer with" ones.

I have another scrap plant which I set up ages ago, which has four Manticores assigned to it, so I know that it's possible. Btw, I have solid storage.

[EDIT]

Curiouser and curiouser. I tried to assign one of the Manticores from the other plant and - whilst it gave me the salvage option, when selected, the ship went into "intercept for". I transferred it back to the other plant without any problems. This is weird.

Okay, so you're trying to assign it as a subordinate. And when you select the manticore (and only that) and right click the station, the entire lower section ("Assign Role for") is missing?

Is it possible the captain hasn't arrived at that ship yet (if you transferred one)?

Accounting for the edit, do you have any mods that might be messing with your UI?

Are your turrets disabled? I don’t remember if it was exactly the same circumstances you are seeing, but I did almost go mad until realizing enabling turrets fixed scrap station assignments for me.

I would think the other assignments would still be there in that case at least.

The option for auto salvage looks like this:

"Salvage for commander".

If it is not there, check if it is really a manticore, and if it has tractor beams installed. If it is somehow bugged, I'd just sell it and get another one. You could save first, just in case.

Default assumption would be that something is messing with your UI or you're targeting something other than station. Because "intercept for commander" is ship popup menu.

Is there a ship docked on the station which you end up clicking, maybe?

yhe ship is absolutely fine and the option doesn't show up. I've tried it with three different ships. Oh well.

There's a tech support forum for this stuff and this bug could affect others. Be kind and read the Tech Support stickies, then place he requested information for the Devteam to look at. they'll want a little technical info from your system - hence the stickies; they just need some text files; and your savegame.
