Suggested changes:
- Personnel should not be able to hit 5 stars in all major skills (piloting, boarding, management, engineering). Personnel should be able to hit a combined maximum of 7 stars for the three major skills. For example: 4-star marine with 2 stars in piloting and 1 star in engineering.
- Personnel should only level-up relevant major skills for current assignment (as us currently the case).
- Personnel should level-up morale faster when engaged in primary major skill (the highest level one), and less morale when engaged in non-primary skills.
- Unassigned personnel (from rescues) should be split-up based on the role they last occupied.
- Marines should participate in ship repairs. Keep in mind they would not level-up their engineering skill in this way.
- Marines should not be able to level-up their morale all the way up through repairs. Repairs should account for their morale level-up up to 2.5 stars instead.
- Introduce an optional dedicated role for ship manager. If no ship manager is assigned, pilot continues to both gain levels in piloting and management. If ship manager is assigned, pilot only gains levels in piloting (maybe at faster rate?).
- Differentiation between the personnel without having to introduce additional stats.
- Discourages the service crew morale loophole. No more assigning personnel to service crew duty just to up their morale quickly. If you do that with underdeveloped personnel, you "risk" having them stuck as really good engineers instead of desired profession (marine, manager).
- Encourages player to use role-specific activities for personnel to get them to highest possible level.
- Lets you more easily assign your unassigned crew into correct positions.
- Long-time pilots of miners and/or traders are no longer as viable for the management positions (due to 7-star limit).
Probably could come up with more negatives, but I don't think I really care that much anymore
