I missed these being added in the notes until I had to build a station for an NPC faction quest. Doing some research into them on the forums and Reddit, I like the module and the ability to not have a gazillion advanced satellites.
However, I'm a bit unclear on the stats / range.
Does anyone have any details on specifics of how they work, or can point me at the right forum post that details this? I did a search and I'm not seeing what I'm looking for.
Specifically:
A) Does the Wide Area Sensor Array (WASA) give sector-wide coverage? Meaning, can I plant one in the corner of a sector and have full sector coverage? Aside: I'm hoping the answer is "no" for realism's sake but if it can, I'll take it.
B) If the WASA does, in fact, have a maximum range, what is it? Looking for an answer in either km or, preferably, "units of advanced satellites / satellites" so that I know where I need to place them geographically. Because: it's pretty easy to adjust advanced / regular satellites if I need to, but station movement isn't.
Thanks in advance.

No, you'll still need satellites if you want full coverage (or multiple sensor stations).
Approximately three times(?) the range of an advanced satellite.klock_x4 wrote: ↑Sun, 2. Mar 25, 02:43 B) If the WASA does, in fact, have a maximum range, what is it? The stats are in the encyclopedia entry. And no, it's still a circle around the station.
Large enough to cover most sectors if placed in the middle, but for larger sectors or off-center placement you'll need multiple or supplement with sats.

225 kilometers. Because there's no "ruler" on the map, pause the game, give any ship an "explore" command, in behavior list, adjust range to 225 km and you'll see how that far that is.
> A) Does the Wide Area Sensor Array (WASA) give sector-wide coverage?
No. 225 km is a lot, but there are sectors bigger than this.
> B) If the WASA does, in fact, have a maximum range, what is it?
It is a satellite dish that detects distant ships. Useful if you want to hunt pirates. The best way to place is in the middle of a sector.
It does not seem to act as a full satellite equivalent, by the way. Advanced satellites are cheaper, of course, but they're also much more fragile.

Basically if you already have a station, just tag it on and remove your adv sats.

Thanks all...I thought I had checked the encyclopedia, but might have just been a reading fail.
