Version: 7.50 build 553255 - 2025-02-20
Language: English
Modified/Modded: none/vanilla game
Game start: The Young Gun
Where: having taken over control of XDV-639
When: State as of having loaded the save game
What:
Issue as described at viewtopic.php?t=415811 has apparently reappeared.
Just try to launch a Laser Tower Mk1 in game. The Laser Tower will not be placed in space/will not be visible on the radar, but will appear as "docked ship" as a subordinate to the current ship.
There is no operation possible with them (except for disabling/self-destruction).
The proposal to sell the Laser Tower at the next Dock/wharf/Shipyard does not work (object itself cannot be sold, laser tower is not considered to be part of the equipment anymore).
The only option I found was to sell the entire ship, rebuying it. The launched&docked laser towers are not considered as part of the sell price of the ship => value is lost.
Assumption:
I believe that triggering is somehow related to having passed near space suits. But I could not confirm that so far...

Re: [#3537] 7.50 BUG Laser Towers MK1 considered as "docked" when launched
Another observation:
I ran into the same issue with a destroyer:
The destroyer had loaded both MK2 and MK1 towers. Pressing the shortcut at roughly equal intervals, I started to it put trace of tower.s It first dropped all MK2 towers and then continued with MK1 towers.
Some MK1 towers could be dropped just normally, but at a certain point in time, it started to queue again. I did not notice this at first.
After some attempts, I figured out that dropping did not work anymore properly and checked the cargo hold. There, I saw that the towers were docked again (like reported above).
Being annoyed by the bug, I kept the state as it was and did some other stuff in the game. The destroyer kept on a "protection position" behavior in the meantime.
Coming back after A couple of minutes (less than 15 mins), I checked on the destroyer group again --- and saw that a strange "trace of MK1 laser towers" had appeared. They were put at a position where I had not been flown before and in such a short distance from each other that it would have been nearly impossible for me to have hit the shortcut at such high frequency. Also the dock of the destroyer was empty now.
Conclusion: Apparently, the "laser tower docking" only "delays" positioning the laser towers to an unclear point in time.
For the sake of completeness: Yes, in the vicinity of the destroyer, there were numerous space suits around (deploying the laser towers was shortly after a battle). Easily possible that one of the space suits thought that the destroyer offered an (unintended) docking-rescue...

Re: [#3537] 7.50 BUG Laser Towers MK1 considered as "docked" when launched
Just got the confirmation: I again had a situation where the destroyer had stopped deploying laser towers. I gave it a command to fly to completely somewhere else. In the middle of the flight, I got a "unable to dock" notification where the Boron said "Last order could not be completed". The Boron was sitting in a space suit.
Right when the statement completed, during travel mode, the destroyer started to drop the docked laser towers - all in one row/shot.
So, it must be the docking requests of space suits that are causing the "docked laser towers".
