And when I did, it blocked it and said that the site was using an insecure connection.

Normally saves uploaded have a pop up complaining about them, but even on some of the other suspicious sites I've had to get saves from, I've never had that pop up. So I'm suspicious about the site to say the least.
Fileconvoy does not appear to support HTTPS connections, only HTTP. Since HTTP connections are not encrypted visiting sites using HTTP can compromise your privacy. It is also technically possible for a hacker to force your browser to download a different file than the one vvvvvvvv uploaded so if you get an EXE file instead of an X4 save file then beware. The chance of that happening is so remote that I don’t think it’s worth worrying about.

The warning from your browser was simply to inform you that the connection was not encrypted when the file was downloaded.

You can actually attach a save file directly to your post but the forum is configured with a maximum attachment size of 50 megabytes. This is unfortunate because a save file for a game with all of the DLC is usually bigger than that, often 60 or 70 megabytes. Someone at EgoSoft should bump the limit to 100 or 200 megabytes.

Please don't drag reports in Tech Support off-topic. Unrelated discussions like this just waste more of people's time tracking and processing reports.

For the record, file attachments are not available for all users, and we have no plans to provide file hosting services when there are plenty available already.
