[#3210][LIVE 7.50] Tobii eye tracking shaking violently

Post by leviathandm »

Can't look around, huge screen tremor when I have tobii on.

Doesn't work if I use OpenTrack as well, it just recenters all the time.

Contributing that I am experiencing the same thing. It's almost as if the tracker is updating at like 15 frames per second or something slow like that, very stuttery. Not at all smooth as it used to be.

Went into other games with tobii support just to be sure. It seems it's on the game's end.

We're aware of this issue, but have had some problems reproducing it. I've added this thread to our internal tracking system so that we can report back.

Meanwhile it would be good if both of you could provide the information requested in the very first thread at the top of the forum, including your DXDiag and details of your Tobii hardware and driver versions, so that we have more data points to work with.

Of course, my apologies. Here is the information as requested;

Version and language: 7.50, English.

Modified: False.

Game start: Issue present under any start or saved game.

Nature of issue: Stuttering Tobii tracking camera control when Tobii is enabled in any form.

Relevant changes: Game updated to 7.50. Reverting to 7.10 hotfix 3 fixes the issue. Issue non-present in other Tobii supported programs.

Additional appropriate items: Video evidence linked here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KcsXmo ... sp=sharing for 7.10 hotfix 3 behavior and here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yR5Ro8 ... sp=sharing for 7.50 behavior. Note that both of these recordings were taken today back to back with a fresh young gun start, and I waited a bit for initial universe stuff to stabilize. Game framerate was consistently between 50-60 fps throughout both of these recordings. Task manager showed no bottlenecks at CPU, Memory, GPU or Disk Usage throughout that may be contributing to this issue.

System Specifications: dxdiag report linked here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZZ4zPR ... sp=sharing and vulkaninfo report linked here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1x1aFri ... sp=sharing.

Additional requested information: Tobii hardware is "Tobii Eye Tracker 5". Tobii driver details linked here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sVeFt3 ... sp=sharing. Tobii Experience software version is "1.69.32600". Tobii gamehub software version is "4.1.1-ci3".

Other: Additionally, toggling "Over-clocked Head Tracking" within the tobii gamehub software had no discernible effect in either version of the game. Updating all tobii related items to latest at the time of this post made no discernible difference.

I hope this helps the team nail down the underlying issue/s. Please feel free to contact me if I may be of any further assistance.

For me it's all the same, works in 7.10 and not in 7.50. Here is the video: doesn't look that bad on video, but on monitor it is hard to look at the screen, shaking is high frequency and low amplitude.

My game is absolutely vanilla, no mods. All DLCs.

I have around 144 fps in the game. If I limit fps to 30, shaking becomes worse, amplitude of oscillations increase.

Video: https://youtu.be/OJonLr5MQ7E

If I turn on Freetrack mode for tobii - it feels like it is fighting constant recenter force and also not usable.

Also my num 0-9 buttons don't work in cockpit, only in free cam.

Is there some control that keeps recentering camera for me?

Tobii 5

Version and language: 7.50, English, All DLC
Modified: None
Game start: Uncocooned
Nature of issue: Stuttering camera tracking outside of deadzone when Tobii is enabled

Tobii Eye Tracker 5
App package version: 1.69.32600
App file version: 1.69.9.32600
Middleware Bundle: 4.72.0.29983
Tobii Experience Software For Windows (EyeTracker5): 4.183.0.30025
Tobii Hello Sensor Driver: 2.0.3.4
Tobii Experience Driver: 1.133.0.30004
Tobii Eye Tracker Generic Base Driver: 2.5.0.5602

DxDiag

I observe the same camera shaking issues as reported above.

An additional related issue I experience is an induced transition of the "top bar" menu item overlays. Clicking them (settings, research, player info, etc.) sometimes causes the overlay to draw with the view/gaze transformation applied then the overlay slowly moves to the centered position. The overlay does not move once it reaches the full-screen position with any head movement until you select another menu item. The "side bar" items the Player Info, Map, Encyclopedia, and Help screens do not affect the view. Disabling head tracking causes the issue to not occur. The overlays should not be subject to any head tracking transformations.

A similar behavior is seen when the tracked view reaches the deadzone or when tracking is disabled with the view off-center. The camera slowly moves to the center/neutral position from the edge of the deadzone. This seems to be intended behavior but seems related to the issues here.

I have uninstalled/reinstalled all Tobii software (current versions) in an attempt to resolve these issues but have disabled head tracking in the meantime as it is very disorienting. Hope this is something that can be fixed as head tracking has become an invaluable immersion tool.

I too am having previously mentioned issues with my Tobii Eye Tracker 5 since updating to 7.50.

Happens during a new start and loaded game. I am running multiple mods. Only seems to affect head tracking. Gaze does not stutter/shake. Does not occur in other supported games.

I want to echo the same exact issue with the Tobii eye tracker 5.

Version: 7.5 live
Modified: no

Tobii hardware: Eyetracker 5
Tobii experience: 1.69.32600
Tobii driver: 1.33.0.30004

DxDiag: https://pastebin.com/uKUQr6C6
VulkanInfo: https://pastebin.com/tYuPYiQG

Note, I have integrated graphics that don't have the drivers installed for them. This iGPU is not used however.

This problem did not exist prior to the 7.5 update.

Same issue here:
App package version: 1.69.32600
App file version: 1.69.9.32600
Middleware Bundle: 4.72.0.29983
Tobii Experience Software For Windows (EyeTracker5): 4.73.0.8501
Tobii Hello Sensor Driver: 1.0.2.11
Tobii Experience Driver: 1.133.0.30004
Tobii Eye Tracker Generic Base Driver: 2.5.0.5602

I have adjusted all possible sliders and selections and i always have the same high frequency (40ish hzt?) low vibration.
Nauseating to look at for more than a few seconds, disabling device for now.

We are still investigating. It's not a trivial issue, not least because we can't reproduce it. When there is news, we will post it; asking for updates won't speed things up.

If reproduction is an issue, I would be willing to help via devnet, signing the nda if needed, testing branches and reporting back the changes.

I just installed tobii 5 and boy oh boy do I get the same issue with the violent mini shaking. It's definitely unfortunate and hopefully it gets fixed soon.

Just bought X4, and have same problem with TOBII.
Mapping cockpit look to hat on stick is apparently not possible, that would at least provide a workaround.
EGOSOFT not being able to repoduce means that not everyone with TOBII has this problem? On all my other games I have no issue at all.

I will reiterate yet again that the more information people provide, the better our chances of finding and solving the problem. Just posting "me too" or "fix it" contributes precisely nothing to that effort.
