[Roadmap 2025Q3] Diplomacy (question/proposition)

Post by TroubledRabbit »

So;

there is that somewhat mysterious announcement in the roadmap.
Could someone (devs, devs' puppies, anyone?) share some of the details?

Assuming that this is still in the design phase I would suggest to rethink the sector 'ownership' feature which now is kinda pointless. Namely:

- establishment :
the player 'owns' the sector on behalf of a selected faction
benefits would be mostly the same as they are now (minus policing policy because that would be still in the hands of faction) sector would be within faction sovereignty but player would not pay for plots, Faction would defend the sector etc. There is a space for additional, exclusive benefits from overseeing Faction (and annoyance from its enemies).
- sovereignty (endgame):
the player becomes a Faction. Literally. That means the player establishes diplomatic relations with other factions, have full 'my porch my rules' ability, needs to defend its property and rights on one's own and can be a target of invasion/incrusion from a Faction. Depending of the sector value and position it should always have impact on relations with other Factions especially if a Faction would treat the sector as its point of interest or 'core'.

In both cases there is a big potential in building planet economy (if there is any planet in the sector, and it at some point would be introduced into the game) and completely new strategic level of playing the game.
