I spent hours and hours getting allied with the Terrans, went to the Representative and bought the blueprint for the Asgard. When I went to the shipyard in the Moon sector it said the Asgard is not available for non Terrans.
Is that it then? Do you have to be playing as a Terran to get the Asgard? I'm ARG.
And why would they let me spend 260 million on the blueprint if I can't own it?
And if I can't get one what's the next most powerful Capital ship?

Re: Asgard availability?
Blueprints asre for building ships yourself, they aren't needed to buy ships from NPC shipyards/wharfs.
The Asgard and Syn can't be bought from TER shipyards, but with their blueprints you can build as many as you want in your own.

Only the Protectorate leadership can order Asgards from TER shipyards. You're an outsider, even if you started as a Terran (I.e., you aren't under the TER faction but your own separate one).
You need to build your own XL shipyard to build it, typically your own economy as well. It's huge investment far past the blueprint cost.

Re: Asgard availability?
My favorite are Split ships, as they are fast and lots of firepower. I send them to TER space to get their shields upgraded then I add mods to increase their L/XL shield Regen rate or M shield capacity.
Paranoid ships are a close second, IMO. Boron I have no comment as I have yet to fly any of them yet.
You could always make a custom start and load yourself up with each and every capital ship in one save and try them out yourself. Each player has their own personal preference / fight style.

Re: Asgard availability?
If you own Split Vendetta then the Raptor is a very competent hybrid carrier and battleship. Unlike the Asgard, it can be ordered in bulk from the appropriate split factions.
That said, you might be better off saving for the XL shipyard building. This can let you build the Asgard, as many as you want. It pays for itself very quickly due to how much it saves over what NPCs sell the ships for.
If you want an L ship, then there are many options, including some free ones if you own specific DLCs. From base game the Behemoth E or Odysseus E are both decent all-round L ships. For a glass cannon there is the Split Vendetta Rattlesnake. The Kingdom End Boron L Destroyer (not familiar with name) is also pretty good and is among the most tanky of the L ships. If you own Timelines you can pick up a free Xenon Drone Carrier, or the X1 Earth exploration ship which is a reasonable destroyer as well (careful of the KHK guards near it, one of them is L class).
If you want the absolute best capital ship, then that belongs to Tides of Avarice's XL sized Erlking. This unique (you can only have 1 at a time) ship has the best turrets in the game, by far, and is also the fastest XL and possibly even faster than all Ls. Obtaining this ship is non-trivial and needs both boarding or destroying the ship itself, retrieving the equipment for it from data vaults and then using your own ship building facilities to either rebuild or upgrade it.

Re: Asgard availability?
If you've got the blueprints you want, and are willing to harm your Terran relationships a bit, you could always commandeer one...
The intervention fleets regularly suicide themselves in Xenon sectors, leaving the fleet Asgard undefended. If you're lucky, you'll find a lone one in commonwealth space heading back to Sol for reinforcement. The commonwealth do not care about aggression against Terran property in their space.
A decent destroyer parked in the blind spot at the back, take the hull down to <75%, and you can steadily bail the crew.
Only casualty will eventually be the captain, and only rep loss when you destroy the engines (repeatedly) to keep them in place. Will take a while however.
If that's not to your taste, the Syn Destroyer

IMHO, you are missing some words in that.Thomas2052 wrote: ↑Mon, 3. Feb 25, 13:08 If you've got the blueprints you want, and are willing to harm your Terran relationships a bit, you could always commandeer one...
One can always board an Asgard (until TER can build no more of them). That has nothing to do with the blueprints.
Boarding Asgards can affect TER relationship negatively. (IMHO, it is right and proper to trade rep for ships.)
If your Terran rep goes low, then you cannot buy blueprints from them. That leaves two options:
A. Get the blueprints before the fun
B. Suck up after the mayhem to regain access to blueprints
In addition to the ship blueprints, the Terran shields, engines, and weapons may be of interest. One can equip boarded Asgard with Commonwealth gear (as boarded ships rarely have all slots filled), but that ... there are opinions about what is "good".

OP mentions they already bought the blueprints, so my suggestions of piracy is in light of that.

Re: Asgard availability?
Thank you for your time people.
So it seems it maybe time to start building stations and my own economy. As an ARG should I start in Argon space? I have 37 sectors open currently, all the Terran I think, all the Argon, a few HOP and Teladi and a few other odds and sods. Got plenty of money and a fleet of large miners out making me plenty more.

Re: Asgard availability?
Asgard requires terran components, so it makes sense to start a terran station. In ARG space there will be no consumers for terran computronics. Station location does not matter that much, as long as the neighbors are friendly and you aren't trying to settle in a xenon sector (which can be one).bradF430 wrote: ↑Wed, 5. For Terran tech a good station location is Segaris. "Segaris" or "Gaian Prophecy" sectors. Commonwealth is not far, and both PIO and TER can buy ship from you. Make sure to set station construction method to "Terran" when shipyard begins operating. This way thrusters and such will be built out of computronics.
Terran ecomony is quite easy, once you've start you are likely to snowball.
