Since I reinstalled Windows 10 on my computer a few weeks ago, and decided to try playing X4: Foundations again, I cannot get it to launch properly. The Steam files did pre-date my Windows install, but I have had no issues with any other Steam games that pre-dated my reinstallation of Windows, and I have tried to reinstall it already, anyways. Behavior is as follows:
It will show the loading screen until it plays the intro cinema sequence, then go back to the load screen for a few seconds, then crash to desktop with no error code or message provided. As I legally own a copy of X4, I downloaded a GOG copy from the high seas, which ran 7.10 Hotfix 3, and this installation ran successfully, without issues. I have tried to remove my Steam install copy and redownload/install it, running without any Workshop mods enabled, but to no avail - I get the same behavior. I have tried switching to the current public beta branch, no luck - switched back to main branch, no luck - switched to 7.10 Hotfix 3 (legacy) branch, no luck -- they all crash to desktop with no error code or message provided.
Included are my DMP files and my DXDIAG file:

If there is anything else I can try, or any help you can provide on this issue, I would greatly appreciate it. I'd rather not play an out-of-date installation that I can't run mods on - that was only to see if it would work or not, and so I know it is something with my Steam files that is the matter.

Re: Game crashes to Desktop after startup cinema
At a first guess, based on other similar reports from people trying similar things, you have some leftover mod files that are preventing your game from running.
Edit: As a second guess, based on your crashdumps, go into the Egosoft\X4 folder in your Documents folder (i.e the folder containing your savegame folder) and delete the file called pipelinecache.bin.

Re: Game crashes to Desktop after startup cinema
okay it's definitely a mod, after i cleared all the steam workshop items out from inside steam, and deleted my extensions folder, it got me to the main menu. i tried resubscribing to the mods i wanted to use, but then it crashed again lol.
im not sure how to parse the dump files myself, visual studio wants to open them but i dont know how to get much info out of them, if im even doing it properly - is there a way to tell what mod its trying to load when it crashes?

There's nothing you can get from the crashdump files yourself, and they won't tell you which mod it is anyway. It's also unlikely to be an issue with "loading" the mod as such, as that's not how mods work. I'm afraid you'll have work out which mod is causing the problem by trial and error, i.e. enabling them one at a time until you find the one that breaks it.
