Every once in a while I like to take a look at how the universe has grown over the lifespan of the game. Quantum Anomaly's ability to toggle DLC on their map is nice, but recent updates have added several sectors to the base game (which is awesome, but makes it difficult to tell what was there at the start). Since the patch notes don't explicitly name all the new sectors, I went through some old forum posts (since my own memory of v1.0 was not great) and put together this map. Thought I'd post it here since I haven't seen anything similar and I imagine some of you will find it interesting. Let me know if you spot any mistakes (the more recent additions should be correct).

Re: Universe map showing introduction of sectors
Maybe 3.0 should be colored orange. The Boron and Terran DLCs are kinda like their faction colors, but not really, but the Split one is completely different and stands out.

Re: Universe map showing introduction of sectors
Yeah, I wasn't really sure what to do with the colors since there are a lot of blue-ish colors in the DLC, I went for the viridis color map since it's supposed to be colorblind friendly.
EDIT: See that change here (https://i.imgur.com/ToNkhlN.png). I'll look into uploading the layered image from paint.net so others can tweak it to suit their preference
EDIT 2: See the folder here for the layered file in paint.net, gimp, and photoshop (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... NQSKysDA0V)

Awesome map a great visualisation for something we've all reflected on at some point or another. My only correction: Turquoise Sea was another new sector added in 3.0.

Regarding Xenon sector Matrix 101, isn't that an unlock from Timelines? Or am I wrong?
It is a good map to learn about the new free sectors, does show that with Timelines we did get a DLC amount of sectors for free (patch 7 & 7.50 feel tied to timelines), greatly expanding the universe (especially travel/expansion options for Pioneers/Boron)

Thanks for the correction! I've updated the linked images and files.Stoats not Goats wrote: ↑Wed, 25. Dec 24, 11:13 Awesome map a great visualisation for something we've all reflected on at some point or another. My only correction: Turquoise Sea was another new sector added in 3.0.
Looks like Quantum Anomaly may have a mistake (this post (viewtopic.php?t=463317) shows Matrix 101 is DLC, but some other posts indicate otherwise). I've changed Matrix 101 to be a DLC system since the linked post is from the devs, will confirm myself when I am able to. I do like the greater inter-connectivity as well, makes Boron space in particular feel a lot less isolated.Starlight_Corporation wrote: ↑Wed, 25. Matrix 101 is accessible without Timelines.BingRazer wrote: ↑Wed, 25. Dec 24, 16:33

So it's bugged? Because the devs say it isn't. And I vaguely remember that you get one of those messages from Timelines when you unlock something new in the open universe and one of those is a new gate opening up in Tharka's Cascade. That part I can check later.adeine wrote: ↑Wed, 25. Dec 24, 17:30Matrix 101 is accessible without Timelines.BingRazer wrote: ↑Wed, 25. Dec 24, 16:33

Just checked loading an old save, perhaps they fixed it(?)Raptor34 wrote: ↑Wed, 25. Dec 24, 17:57So it's bugged? Because the devs say it isn't. Test:
- disable Timelines DLC
- start new game Wyaward Scion
- fly to Tharka's Cascade XV
- locate inactive Jump Gate
- save game
- enable Timelines with everything unlocked
- load game
- check map: Jump Gate is now active
- check message Timeline Coherence Report: Additional gate connection in sector: Tharka's Cascade XV
- fly through gate
- you are now in sector Matrix 101
=> Matrix 101 is added by Timelines!

Re: Universe map showing introduction of sectors
100% Matrix 101 is only accessible with Timelines active. It is not in the base game.
